Re: Bindis
Thu, April 24, 2008 - 4:37 AMIf you can't find pre-made bindis you could always go to a craft/dollar store and get some flat-backed rhinestones or other shinies and use eyelash glue or spirit gum to stick them on. -

Re: Bindis
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 9:36 AMSpeaking of bindis...
I've seen suggestions for making them that involve an acetate backing for some of the larger central ones. Where would I find that kind of backing? What non-bellydance thing would it be used for so I know where to look in my local craft stores? I'd really like to try my hand at making some bindis myself.
Thanks! -

Re: Bindis
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 10:18 AMI make bindis ( www.BigAssBindis.etsy.com ) and although I've made some with acetate (you can buy it at any art supply store) I don't like it for a backing. I prefer vinyl, I just find it easier to work with and it holds best with the type of epoxy I use. The vinyl can be purchased at any JoAnns, usually where the upholstery fabrics are, and it is very, very inexpensive. -

Re: Bindis
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 12:01 PMHi Meyveline!
I'm not from Orlando, so I can't help you find a store nearby, but my friend, Amara Duende, makes handmade bindis that you can see and buy here on tribe. I own several and they're gorgeous and well made. She can do custom orders if you're needing a specific color or size. Here's her bindi tribe: tribes.tribe.net/amarasbindis
Hope that helps! -

Sun, April 27, 2008 - 9:33 AMThank you those are like the ones I used to have. I haven't had time to go to the store or to order them online for my first performance so I'm using little jewels but thank you for all your help. I have a great deal of selection for my next show. =) -
