line the back (inside) of the bra with newspaper and painters tape and you should be fine. just let it dry...
fabric paint it a little harder, you end up with brush marks. is it something you can dye? Dharma has dyes that work on polyester and silk, and others that work on cotton/linnen. the poly-silk ones are called acid dyes.
always, gloves and (if it's a dry sort that you mix) particle mask with no food or drink in the room.
^_^ have fun and always try a scrap or un-noticeable part first

There are softer fabric paints by Jacquard that might be suitable also. Dharma Trading is a great place to look. . .dig around on their site, and you should get lots of ideas!

You can try dyeing it as well. There is a ton of fabric dye that you can do in your washer machine. It might come out spotted so make sure there isn't any folds on the bra.

Do you think acrylic paint would work???

It might work...but I don't want to say yes.....I would never wash it however. I'm not sure if the paint would come out in the wash.

Acryllic paint won't wash out. I used to use it to paint T-shirts. It will make your fabric stiff though if you don't use a thin coat.

Standard acrylic paint, like what is used on a canvas, will stiffen your fabric.

If you want a radical color change, dye is the way to go. Polyester fabrics don't dye well. Natural fabrics dye better. If it is a dark fabric and you want to dye it a lighter color, you may have to remove color first - bleach.

What about silk paint? I've only ever seen it used for art projects but it's specifically designed to wash colour into large areas of fabric.

i think silk paint is acutally a dye. im only bringing up semantics because it means you have to keep it off your hands for your health

Dye will work on some fabrics, but not polyester.
Fabric paints and markers will work on most fabrics. So will floral paint. Floral spray paint dries very flexible, so do some fabric markers & paints.
What I would do is test paints, dyes, or whatever on small scraps of fabric. If I chose dye, I'd dye the fabric, then cover the bra. If I chose paints or a marker, I'd cover the bra first, then apply the color onto the finished bra.

i think acid dye will work on poly. (our costume shop found that out right after going threw a whole mess trying to get bright, vibrant colors with another dye that they knew would work on polyester-which the jazz dresses were made from. turned out they could have used acid dye-which gives you very bright colors- and it would have taken fine on the poly. it just depends on what dye and other chemicals you use)

    Hi there,
RITT Dye, has a color remover product that you can get at Wal-Mart. It is usually in the laundry Isle. Just follow the directions, then you can re-dye it in your color of choice or use fabric paint. You can also find fabric paints and stuff at Michael's or Hobby Lobby.
    Good luck
