So I just thought of something that may have contributed to my low friendly bacteria count...I use raw garlic to kill cold virus' since the allicin is a natural antibiotic, but I never thought (silly me) that it might act like other anti-biotics by killing off my friendly bacteria as well. Anyone know for sure? I can't seem to find proper documentation, just random net opinions so far.

Re: Garlic and friendly bacteria
Sat, May 31, 2008 - 11:58 PMIt can, like other antibiotics decrease the numbers of some friendly bacteria and thus select the strongest healthy ones to survive. NOT silly you. it is a part of the process of knowledge! This is your random net opinion of the day.
I have a small file on the documented interactions of probiotics and garlic. I'm too busy to find it at this time.

Re: Garlic and friendly bacteria
Sun, June 1, 2008 - 7:53 AMi have been collecting wild rose, so reading alot as well.....
it has anti inflammatory and astringent actions as well as supporting the friendly bacteria in the gut.
it is very gentle and sounds like it may be a great tonic for you
also burdock is a good one for the gut and bacteria.....but i wouldn't be positive it would be 'the right' herb, would have to look at that one... -
