Re: just wanted to share
Fri, April 18, 2008 - 6:16 PMOk let me straighten this out for you Dudley....these are miniature hogs aka potbelly pigs........as for their names well the one with tusks and all is Pork Chop aka Choppers and the other one (wild rescue hog) is Rosie. The anklebiter loves pigs has loved them since the first time he saw one, he knows alot about all kinds of pigs even the wild kinds......
These pigs/mini hogs are not destined for the dinner table so its ok for them to be pets.
As for chickens in the house ask Jeezebutts to share the picture of Jezebelle in the bathroom.....just sayin
Keep eatin bacon and all the good meats, the anklebiter just calls it meat and pretends it didn't come from pigs *chuff chuff* funny little dude -

Re: just wanted to share
Sat, April 19, 2008 - 8:28 PMThanks Herman.
I tried to explain the difference to Dudders, but he just kept drooling. I imagine he had that "roast tenderloin thingy" on his mind, or bacon.
I have questions though, do these pigs use a litter box, go potty outdoors, or what? Hey, gotta keep asking the poop & pee questions here! -

Re: just wanted to share
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 10:12 AMPork chop is totally house trained just like us dogs and he learned fast. Rosie moved in when she was 7 months old and had not been properly socialized and bonded so she has never been made a house pig. They have a pen behind the shop and the old horse trailer is their pig house. Pork chop will follow humes pretty good or walk on a harness and leash pretty good. Rosie doesn't she flips out and squeals (like a pig) *chuff chuffchuff* oh I crack myself up..... -

Re: just wanted to share
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 7:03 PMthey had a big problem around here with international students 'adopting' those pot bellied pigs from the animal sheleter and then roasting them. the students explained that they wouldn't roast the females if the shelter didn't insist on spaying them. pork is pork. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.

Re: just wanted to share
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 1:27 PMWhen Phaedra was little she said that he Dad and some of his hunting friends went hunting and her dad shot a wild boar. It charged him and he killed it. It had tusks and smelled bad - b.o. bad - and looked real fierce. She saw it when he brought it home. She was little and said she was really scared of it. -

Re: just wanted to share
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 3:28 PMthey have wild pigs out on the fort riley reserve. they get huge...like over 1000#. they have tusks that are six to eight inches. i would not want to meet a live one. they are very intelligent and can be agressive, especially sows with litters. -
-
Re: just wanted to share
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 4:53 PMSounds like you got Hogzilla and family out there Aunt Bea! Those pigs could kill a man with 1 swipe of those giant tusks, and if that didn't do it, they'd stomp you into the mud.
Seriously, I'll stick with bacon and pork chops! -

Re: just wanted to share
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 9:24 AMthose wild boars can kill people. they can't go in and hunt them because it is an old artillary range and too dangerous....there might be unexploded shells, etc. they occaisionally try to thin them down with heliocopters. some red necks sneak on and hunt them anyway, but since 9-11 it is harder for them to get on. -
-
Re: just wanted to share
Thu, May 1, 2008 - 5:29 PMI live very close to one of the nation's oldest, and still active, artillery ranges. Unexploded ordinance is vastly overrated. :-)
"The sound of gunfire, off in the distance, I'm gettin' use to it now...
No wild pigs hereabouts though, please return to your porcine discussion. -
