As most of you know, I'm busy running Holly's Hounds 24/7, working on commissioned works of art in my studio, or collaborating musically with friends. Hence, I came up with a simple solution. I went online and made some Holly's Hounds buttons that are for sale! (or if you prefer, I made some stickers too)

Click HERE to see the image -------> http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/9946/hollyshoundsweblogoqa2.jpg

100% of the funds raised through the sales of these buttons (or stickers) will be donated to animal foundations, shelters and rescue centers such as Milo, Hopalong, and the Oakland SPCA.

Click HERE---------> http://www.zazzle.com/hollycejones
and you'll be directed to the site where you can acquire these lovely gems!

Think about it. The $ spent on these items is like... one less beer or glass of wine. :D

Last week Ifound two kittens. I was trying to place them since I have four dogs and two rabbits and although I love cats, the situation just didn't bode well. They have pierced my heart and I do want to keep them. They are healthy and happy, but they have to spend most of their time shut up in one room. They love to play together so they are not lonely and when possible all the dogs go out and the kittens romp through the house. I have introduced them to the three smaller dogs and although they may give chase I don't fear their safety (but they won't be left alone together till I know the cats are old enough to fight back and flee vertically). The problem dog is the boxer. He is a big baby, but his aggressiveness toward the kittens is disturbing.

I heard that boxers are a breed that is known to be aggressive to cats. Anyone heard this? Experiences? Suggestions?

Am I being selfish and unrealistic?
Should I push to find a new home before they get too much older or try to make it work??????

ok, so yesterday i went grocery shopping and bought miles a chew bone, came home, made him sit and lay down - and he was very happy to get his bone. he took it to the living room and i did dishes. about 5 minutes later i heard miles go devil dog on dottie, and i laughed thinking that it was funny that he should be protecting his bone from a tiny tiny kitty. well, the afternoon wore on, and every so often i went and checked on him, and there he was in the same spot guarding his bone, not even enjoying it, but just having a mexican standoff with dottie.
now dottie of course, isn't even big enough to lift the bone, nor does she really want it. it's clear that she's egging miles on.
but he wouldn't let it drop -- he nervously laid by his bone for the rest of the day and when ric got home from work i clued him in and he witnessed this bizarre behavior. it was really amusing and we sat in the living room watching miles be anxious and freak out every time dottie pranced by. what's really odd, is that he never protects his regular food from her.

and normally miles isn't so aggro over bones - he'll usually carry it upstairs and hide it. he used to steal bella's bones and hide them. that's the weird thing - he made no attempt to hide it, just left it in the middle of the living room floor and wanted to defend it to the death from the cat. weird.
he actually slept by it all night.
really weird!

i'm curious about whether we feel the adage holds true.

here's an example.

in two separate incidents, michael was parted from a total of four or five of his itty-bitty front teeth. so now all his nibbling action happens off-center.

thirty years ago or so i got yanked off my feet by a big german shepherd that i was walking. he took off after a cat and i hit the street face-first, with one palm down and the other arm being jerked upward with the leash. the impact chipped my two front teeth--the new adult ones. that wasn't so bad--no loss of functionality--until one day about twenty years after that happened, a dentist thought he'd do me an aesthetic favor and even out the chipped edges of my teeth with the side of his drill. it happened so fast that it was over before i could say anything at all.

so now my front teeth don't meet any more and i can't do things like cut threads or trim off a hangnail.

and all my nibbling action happens off-center.

"Instead, dogs see "VIBYYYR" (Violet, Indigo, Blue, Yellow, Yellow, Yellow, and Red). The colors Green, Yellow, and Orange all look alike to dogs; but look different from Red and different from the various Blues and Purples. Dogs are very good at telling different shades of VIB apart. Finally, Blue-Green looks White to dogs."

So, this weekend Miles got to spend some quality time with Julie, he was extremely happy and so was she. The quandary here is that after she left on Sunday afternoon, Miles slipped into a melancholy state. A similar thing happened when he spent the weekend with her like a month ago. When he got home he was slinking around, un-energetic and depressed for several days.

He's a moody dog anyway, but I can tell that he goes into a dark place.

Obviously I'm not going to restrict her from seeing him, but it makes me wonder if the happiness he feels when she pops in is worth the sadness and separation he feels when she leaves again.

Any thoughts?

Kelly, did or does Tallulah go through any emotions like this with your Ex?
