I read something really interesting about resistance in one of the talks on the website, and now I can't find it. It was something about resistance (or fear?) being energy. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

dunno where it was.... i'll take a look.

Re: Resistance
Sun, August 5, 2007 - 11:17 AMi did find the word mentioned here:
"Or, writes Harrison, perhaps our resistance to associating education with happiness is rooted in the fact that we are a little afraid of happiness. It was hardly the educational goal for most of us, after all."
this is from a review of one of his books, on education.

Sun, August 5, 2007 - 12:30 PMNo, that's not it (though it is a great talk). Have you ever posted something of SH's on tribe that was not from the website? -

Re: Resistance
Sun, August 5, 2007 - 12:55 PMLOL, I just found it in one of my EH posts.
This is the quote:
"Fear
A: Yesterday in the meeting you said something remarkable: fear causes resistance to non-existence. That seems to be a pointer. Fear as the driving force, a creating movement in what is, it is creating what is, while commonly fear is seen as something negative. You turned it around.
S: We can feel that the consequences of fear: the holding on, the clinging, the going back, the referencing, is caused by a reaction to the vitality of this moment. What we call fear is the interpretation of that energetic movement. That is interpreted by the mind as annihilation. But if that interpretation is abandoned, then fear is just energy. The same energy that is flowing through life, non-dual. The goddess dies in that. Only the mind sees the goddess as a goddesS: as fear, as Kali. The form of energy and the interpretation of that is energy and is what it is! "

This is the part that really rang true for me:
"What we call fear is the interpretation of that energetic movement. That is interpreted by the mind as annihilation. But if that interpretation is abandoned, then fear is just energy."
There are so many areas in my life where I run into resistance/fear/energy and it's as if I reach the edge of what I know and I don't know how to respond to it, so I pull away. I do this in painting, writing, relationships, etc. -

Re: Resistance
Sun, August 5, 2007 - 7:15 PMhey lori, yeah, i'm quite sure i've posted other stuff of steven's, both in my blog and various tribes - esp during my last tribe incarnation.
but i remember the one you just posted - isn't that a great insight? i'm more and more seeing how it's the interpretation of energy that fucks with me, moreso than the energy itself. a bit easier to see now while i'm fasting, cuz my inner world has gone so quiet!
(as i just mentioned in my blog) sure makes me wonder how much of my psychology is generated by the food i eat - the impact of the food's energy on *my* expression of energy, IOW. kinda freaks me out to consider that.....
today, the whole world seems locked in playing out addictions of one kind or another.....and i rather like floating above those.....while being quite sure i also look forward to snacking out again and sinking into my comforts, you know? comfortably numb....
but i like this quality of listening too. i feel really calm amidst the astonishing array of my world.
