This is an announcement to everyone in this tribe. There will be a Clean Sweep this Sunday night.
This means that you have a decision. This is switching gears to be a core working group of people who are doing work in regards to creating this Dolphin Protection Coalition.
No Lallygoogers, slackers, observers and lurkers. Anyone who says your in and want to continue and do something....say aye aye........anyone who does not indicate they wat to stay will be swept off the deck.
Time to go to phase 2. Each person who says they will work say how many hours you'll put in per week.
Energy was built up, then it receded...let's move it pass the level that keep sit out of the public eye. Everyone in Japan has to know of this issue and we are going to do our part.
We need at least 13 people...1 would be nice...minimum 5 hrs/week....
80 hrs a week and we can start to do something. We have some brilliantly talented people in this tribe. Lets put it together and make the team.
We have to tap into the energy wave thats coming in and focus in the right direction throuh the power of our shared thought.....
You are here because we share the same devotion to protecting our dolphin kin....let's bring it in...lets kick it up...tap into the energy field and ride it....
So I says to you....ere you one of the 16? Who's stepping on the court to play?

Re: Clean Sweep Alert
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 9:46 AMI can realistically offer around 3 hours a week to the cause of the Dolphins...
I'm living up in Victoria BC, so if anyone has anyleads on what I can be doing up here, let me know..
I am a full time mother and student, but see how important it is to get focalized around a common vision.
I do need guidance, as I feel new to the whole Dolphin Activism front, so I encourage others in the tribe that are needing support in their endeavours/projects to reach out to me...

Re: Clean Sweep Alert
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 5:02 PMhi nejmah! thank you for your support of this cause! we are all fairly new too, this group came together early september in response to the oct.8th international protest against taiji dolphin slaughter. we all put our lives aside for a month and managed to get a group together, educate ourselves, get in touch with the key players (ric o'barry being one of them and the funder of this worldwide protest) and put on the protest.
it was a lot of condensed speedy work, but it's amazing what people can do over such a short time. we even had a donation made out of the blue to fund the printing of the posters. it was an incredible experience.
so, welcome! happy to have you on board and appreciate whatever time you can make. what i would suggest for starters is to head to ric's site and read read read, he was recently in taiji protesting and documenting, and posted blogs.
if you have any other questions i'd be more then happy to answer - these days it may take me a little while to answer cause i too am a mom, work, etc. etc. captain is also a good source of info!

blissings, sf
for anyone in vancouver who would like to do something and does not know what becaue the protest is over, there have been park board meetings in support of the no whales in captivity group...we should support these folks more, they come out in our support and we are all basically working towards the same goal. i suggest people conact them and start attending meetings and their mini protests. as you may or may not know there are more dolphins and more whales to be joining the ' bathtub'...aquarium.

Re: Clean Sweep Alert
Wed, November 16, 2005 - 4:36 PMI am so sorry that I will be one of those swept off the decks. I am willing to what I can, when I can. In small ways I do things, by talking about issues with people I meet. But full time job, 3 kids I can not in good faith promise X hours per week knowing that I may not be able to do that on a regular basis.
Thanks for all you do and have done. Keep me in mind if you need things in Portland. -

Re: Clean Sweep Alert
Wed, November 16, 2005 - 5:17 PMas a matter of fact, i have a question for captain. when someone on here asked where 'you were' after the protest there was no reply back. i think that it's important to be present to command a ship if not at least steer :-)
right now, after the protest is over, things have gotten quiet due to a number of reasons. one of them being seasonal, the other that most folk don't know what to do...the other is that a lot are scrambling to try to take care of themselves and their's.
i have posted info of ric's as 'what to do' examples...the rest is a matter of constantly educating the public and if you have any meetings in your town then freeing up a few hrs here and there to attend.
i for one have not seen any faces from here (vancouver pod) at any of the whale meetings, these folks are working pretty much for the same cause...how many of you in vancouver receive their newsletter? please support the no whales in caplivity team.
and finally, rather then sweeping away, i'd be more curious to ask the questions:
- 'what does everone propose we work on now?'
- 'how can we be more prepared next year?'
- 'what have we all leared from this?'
are amongst the first few questions that come to my mind.
i think everyone's been wating for some sense of direction, am i right or wrong on this?
and as far as the 1 dpc is involved, it's good to have a crowd...in that crowd we have a core group. if anyone would like to join this group this would be the time! :-)
much love!

Thu, November 17, 2005 - 10:58 AMis there a "pirate's code" on this ship? If so does it tolerate democracy? If yes & yes, I nominate Star_Fish as staff coordinator. -

Fri, November 18, 2005 - 8:57 AMIf there is no code I am outta here.
I too play my part. Often in the bilges of my ship out of site.
I am a Freeman Buccaneer and "serve" no man.
If you want me to continue sailing MY SHIP with your fleet show proper respect. My guns swivel. I am not threatening but will not be coerced or dictated too. I am willing to respect leadership when the leaders deserve that respect. My larders are full and I have the wind at my back.
So, somebody let me know if the fleet sails or fails.

One more thing, for now.
Fri, November 18, 2005 - 9:10 AMThe "Lass" has earned the right and I would spill blood for her.
Other peoples : )
Just pulling your peg.
Seriously, I am not suggesting a mutiny, but the Admiral needs to acknowledge our Freeman status and should be honored to lead.
I've lead men in battle. Cause is important but respect and esprit de corps is everything. I say let the sleepers sleep. When they awaken aboard a moving vessel full of activity the will rod their muskets and jump to. If they awkake to find they have been put ashore they are of no use. It is not like they eat a lot and their hammocks don't bump mine when they swing.
So, once again, sail or fail, Starfish? -

that just sounds baaaaad!
but i am curious to know what everyone's thoughts are 'post protest'. we've had plenty of time to rest up, so let's recall and reflect.
i know this event for many lead to burn out. myself included. my chiropractor even told me to lay off or i will suffer. so i understand the inertia, but am seeking some feedback...for myself and this ship. -

Jason is right about letting the sleepers sleep
Fri, November 18, 2005 - 9:19 AMif this was some sort of mad max group of thugs then maybe you'd want to sweep out those who weren't pillaging with the rest, but for the kind of energy that this group is about, the more people in here the better, even if they're just lurking.
i just joined yesterday, but what will i do...
i can definitely pledge to put *more* energy into dolphin protection work. i don't know what that means in terms of hours per week. i'll tell you what my project is, though.
NAZIDOLPHIN is ragin' angry ever since he found out about the oppression of the humans. Now he is organizing the dolphins into a fascist ocean neo-state and when he's ready, he's gonna start attacking the human idiots who dare harm a dolphin! You thought U-boats were tough? Wait til' you face NaziDolphin!!! -

going through a worm hole
Fri, November 18, 2005 - 12:11 PMhey dave, i don't know if you're into the whole mayan calendar thing, but as far as rounding the triangle is concerned, we are very close to the end of the 4th Day of the Galactic Underworld, about to enter the 4th Night in about ten days. in our timeframe, each day or night lasts 360 days. before 1999, they each lasted 20 years. before 1755, they were 400 years, and so on, back to the big bang 16 some odd billion years ago. for more, check out www.mayanmajix.com
in other words, we are experiencing a galactic shift in consciousness right now and the speed of creation is hurtling towards infinity!

Fri, November 18, 2005 - 12:24 PMi think dave was referring to the nazi post...but i don't wanna speak for him, i'm only assuming as online intuition does not always work. it made me second look....you are kidding. right?
as far as everything goes, shit's always a happening! that's just the nature of life.
but it all depends on how one looks at it and what one (or many) want to do with it from there.
can we all reflect on the protest at some point? -
-
Re: going through a worm hole
Fri, November 18, 2005 - 12:46 PMi'm kidding insofar as i do not believe in the goals of "nazidolphin" lol
but that is a real character in one of my backburner projects. he's an antagonist dolphin, one of several animal characters, in a story about a marine biologist I envision will be played by Jeff Bridges. His character develops a dolphin-human translator as well as a floating water tank that allows sentient marine creatures to roam the dry surface with ease. -
-
Re: going through a worm hole
Fri, November 18, 2005 - 12:47 PMnot a single water tank but a personal one for each creature. one of these is a humpback whale named Steinbeck, and he calls his watery vehicle the Steinbeck Quadre-Suit. -

did you read the navy dolphin articles threads posted earlier?
there is a whole timeline on navy use of dolphins, and other ocean creatures.
sick sci-fi stuff going on already.
when the huricane let lose some armed navy dolphins i was praying that they go over to taiji and teach the other ones some self defense trix. i dont think they had a chance. or that they are interested....but who knows? -

Re: going through a worm hole
Fri, November 18, 2005 - 6:36 PMhmm...glad to see there is some discussion.
I have used the term clean sweep because I believe there is a necessary distinction between working groups and discussion groups.
Like all of you i am involved in other projects and we can't all focus all or any of our attention some or all the time.
I integrate my projects together and look to see how they can all assist one another.
These projects come together in the form of a very secret plan. behind the plan is a vision and a system.
to those unfamiliar with systems thinking it can seem a bit chaotic and overwhelming.
the dPC is a piece of a larger system that is yet to be built.
I have been looking for people who are willing to participate in the design of the plan.
starfish is the only person to see the harmonizer table. -

is there a website outside of tribe?
Sat, November 19, 2005 - 12:04 PMi was thinking how cool it would be to have a website where you could look around the world and see where every dolphin pod was, every species of dolphin, every known habitat, rankings of the trouble spots for dolphins, alerts of beachings, contact links with all the local groups, letters to write (especially with the webforms to make it easy), charities to donate to, ways to get involved, etc.
and of course a link back to this tribe :)
do we have anyone in the coalition who is capable of super-advanced web design like that?
if you've been to my site you can see that is decent looking but still obviously an amateur's
i'm good with design elements and content brainstorming though like i've done here -

Re: is there a website outside of tribe?
Sat, November 19, 2005 - 2:46 PMthat's an excellet idea!
i'd do it, minus the php coding, someone else's skills would have to be required...but i wonder if it's a really good idea to reveal pod locations to the world...what is good can be used for evil...eeeevviiilll.
everything else i'd love to see manifest. unfortunately i have very limited time for that right now.
could we get some folk on this? maybe those that were not involved in the protest and now are in hyperspeed to get their personal lives in order? or at least research to see if something like this or similar is out there already? -
-
is too much information an invitation to evil...
Sat, November 19, 2005 - 4:12 PMwell i think the people who wish to do harm to dolphins already know where their "prey" is. i think probably the navy already has a simulation database of prominent species distribution. problem is, we don't have access to that database.
we are the people who want to help the dolphins and i believe more information is always better. hiding information is a sign of hidden motives, and we have no hidden motives here. i feel confident that it will lead to good.
some people should research more fully the extent of current dolphin links.

Mon, November 21, 2005 - 11:04 PMdoes this coalition or any other one you know about possess a "dolphin pirate ship" capable of interdicting poachers?
i think having one would activate a lot of intensity from certain individuals...tell them they can go live on a ship and go around the world protecting dolphins and you'll see them drop everything to do it! -

Mon, November 21, 2005 - 11:36 PMi think sea shepherd was doing that...?
and greenpeace?
however once you are in foreign waters you can get arrested and never be able to enter the country again...you can also sit in jail without the comforts of the jails in n.america...and basically rot...while you get tortured.
i also don't like the idea of locating dolphins through a site...baaad idea. imagine a dolphin gps...very baaad.
a wise man once said to me...and he's been working with this stuff for over 40 yrs...always ask yourself if it's good for the dolphins first!
many things are cool, but whom do they serve?
would you reveal the best surf break online?
you'd get flamed pretty bad...and the locals would have their way with you.
so, no dolphin locators...besides, they keep moving, they migrate. why would anyone wanna reveal that to the world?
that would be like handing over the dolphins to the fishermen on a silver platter! forget it.
as far as databasing the endangered dolphins, death zones, charities, and other info...great ideas...keep em coming. and if you wanna know more about driftnets, etc. go see don at earthtrust.org -

Re: we need movement friends
Thu, November 24, 2005 - 5:24 PMJust checking in...my internet access is spotty right now...
communication traffic has been low since the protests. I had to switch attention to other projects.
There are 2 major operations right now that need support...the Sea Sheperd in the antartica and the team in Taiji.
I would suggest 2 teams to support both...and the third team of people doing research compilation. We can have many different security protocols in regards of what knowledge to share...but research has to get organized and put up in the web.
At one point there were almost 15 working people....with various levels of contribution...there has been little activity as of late.
The Dolphin Protection Coalition (from the perspective I am working with) is one of 4 parts of central tetrahedron. The whole tetrahedron is a knowledge sharing system.
There are a few resources missing currently.
