I had no idea all of this was happening to dolphins and whales.
Living in a landlocked state, I get very little info about this sort of thing unless I go looking for it. I did find info about the overharvesting of swordfish and have worked to educate people about that ever since.
I didn't even know that there were "wildlife preserves" for the ocean! I guess it's all a metter of what you are exposed to.
I'm glad something is working in the dolphins favor, though I can't say I'm happy that they are murcury poisoned. I have studied that and know about some of the dangers most don't understand.
It crosses the blood brain barrier, and the similar membrain that protects fetus'. It is also a mutegen (mutates DNA). Perhaps those 4 fins are from the mercury poisoning (or possibly a parasite -- there is a parasite that causes frogs to grow extra limbs.)
At any rate, it is tragic that those fishermen are so blind to what they are really doing.
