So I think I mentioned over on the PR tribe last spring/summer that Warner Brothers was making a film here in my hometown (Huntington, WV) about the 1970 plane crash that killed nearly the entire Marshall University football team, coaching staff, and many local civic leaders.
Well it is finally released nationwide in theaters tomorrow! Red and I got a couple of advanced tickets and will be going to the 3:00 matinee. Several of our friends went to advanced screenings and said it was pretty powerful and moving...not so much about football, but more a metaphor for overcoming great loss.
If you are looking for a film to see this season...check it out. And my house is briefly seen in one of the shots as well!

Re: Shameless plug!
Fri, December 22, 2006 - 4:03 PMJust got back from seeing We Are Marshall.
I know I'm biased...but this film was great. It won't win any awards, but if you don't feel inspired after watching it you need to call a cardiologist.
I went through an entire package of travel kleenex. -

Thu, December 28, 2006 - 1:01 PMArcadia...did you see it yet?
Was it too cheesy? I don't think that I can be unbiased because I live here and am closely familiar with the whole story.
But I've read some reviews that claim it is too predictable. -

Re: Shameless plug!
Thu, December 28, 2006 - 3:23 PMHi Rick!
We were in West Virginia yesterday (embarrassed to admit we were in Charles Town, hitting the slot machines, oh well). Anyway, we stopped at a store to see if there were any good bargains and I couldn't understand why there were so many places with tons of "Marshalll" clothing. I completely forgot that it was a West Virginia school, so you cleared up that mystery for me. -

As I said...I'm a bit biased, but I thought it was pretty darn good. And it's never a bad time to look at Matthew McConnaughey, imo.
Matt Fox is pretty cute too. :)
