Mon, April 28, 2008 - 1:33 AMhi uthman,
yes these ceramic drums are being sold all over turkey right now. but there are many makers popping up around the world it seems. if you can get one in your area that would be best. they are fragile and expensive to ship. if you are coming to turkey i'd be happy to help you find one.
good luck, david -

Re: Turkish Drums
Tue, April 29, 2008 - 3:01 PMHi David
many thanks for your help and guidance. I have a good friend who lives in Istanbul and is due to visit me in the UK this summer. He has kindly offered to pick up a drum for me but isnt sure of the best place to buy from. Could you recommend a good quality store to purchase from? I have looked at the Emin Percussion range but they are quite expensive ( 350 - 450 euro). My budget is around 200 to 250 euro. I am not bothered about brand names but would like a good sounding and looking drum for the price. Could you please advise?
Thanks in advance
Uthman

Tue, April 29, 2008 - 3:21 PMI wish I could lay hands on one of those big ceramic drums with natural skins before I had one shipped. There's just too many things that can go wrong, and shipping costs are frikken ridiculous, and which are not refundable, most of the time. -

Tue, April 29, 2008 - 3:59 PMDoes Makaan up in Colorado make big clay drums? He used to vend at Scarborough Faire. Nice guy I think Ben has a drum or a few of his he seems to favor a small one but Makaan makes really big ones. I think his booth was called Healing Earth Drums.
