Dyeing Instructions coming soon!

I am hopefully going to be spending this weekend getting some dyeing instructions started.
I will cover the basics of dyeing; what dyes to use for fiber content.

Know that there are many dyes available to the public; many formulated specifically by the company which sells them. Aljo Dyes, Dharma Trading and Pro-Chemical formulate their own colors from industrial dyes.
Dye D'oh

So I started a 2 batches of things dying today in Procion-MX. I of course have had the dye for months and didn't bother to read all the instructions until after I began dying. My problem? No Synthrapol, and no access to it other than online. What would be the best way to handle this situation? Will it be okay to wait and rinse it later after some comes in the mail? Is there a home solution, I've set things in vinegar before but don't know if that would work for this type of dye. Besides, the Synthrapol is just a wash, right? Does it set it as well? I don't know if this is useful, but I have jacquard bath (for silks and wool, doesn't say what the chemical is however) and a the mild detergent that you use to wash fabrics for use with the Bubblejet Chemicals.

I guess what I'm asking is what is the best way to approach this problem. It seems to me that rinsing it with my usual mild detergent probably won't be the end of the world, but I'm concerned that there might be something I'm completely over-looking ;)

And thank you for starting this board, I think I'm going to begin dying more and I'm excited to share and learn here!

I haven't yet started this tribe, but in the next month I will be posting dyeing information some of which was covered in reconstructed clothing.
You are more than welcome to ask any dyeing questions in the meantime.

Aloha and thanks for creating this tribe!

I'm getting ready for a tie dye session in a couple of weeks (cotton onesies with Procion dye) and thought I should wash all the stuff first to get any sizing/finishing out of the fabric. I am wondering if there is anything I should or should not add to the wash water (pretty sure I should not use fabric softener).
Any tips?

Thanks!
: D
