The last thread that included this is months old. I'd like to restart it, if anyone is interested.

The rules are:
a.) One person asks a question to be answered with a tarot reading (
b.) Someone responds with a tarot reading, and then
c.) The person who gave the reading asks their own question, thereby keeping the chain of question/reading going.

Anybody can play, anyone can jump in whenever they see a question that feel like responding to. I'll start the game in the first post.

Good card ..bad position??

Identifying a Deck

Greetings All,
I've recently inherited a tarot deck. There's nothing with the cards to identify who created the deck. I am hoping that the vast amount of experience will help me.

The best description of the art is that it is quite stylized. The Fool's image is difficult to describe as it is filled with many different elements. What I think helps though is below the image is the word, "potential. In the left hand border (card reading upright) is the phrase, "I am the Unlearned" and in the right hand margin (again card reading upright) is the phrase "And They can Learn from Me." For the minor arcana and exampe is the Queen of Pentacles - in this deck she is "Mother of Earth" (the title or phrase at the top of the card when upright) and at the bottom is "Geremiah."

I hope that's enough information. Please feel free to answer here or message me. Thank you so much. This deck belonged to someone I loved very much who is recently deceased. I'd really like to discover which deck it is.

Can anyone help me interpret this reading, or do a reading for me, please?

I've recently began to think a bit more seriously about a business idea I toyed with a while back. I've just attempted a reading but I think I'm too burnt out from all the research... I'm really struggling to interpret the cards. Was wondering if anyone wanted to have a go at interpreting them for me, or draw some cards for me if you prefer? I really could do with some guidance. I don't often use reverse meanings myself, but in this reading I must've held the pack upside down because all but one of the cards were upside down. Not sure what, if anything, that means. I'll put *s before and after the one that was in the upright position. It was just a simple past, present, future spread:

PAST: STRENGTH THE EMPEROR KING OF CUPS
PRESENT: ACE OF WANDS KING OF SWORDS **FIVE OF WANDS**
FUTURE: TEN OF COINS NINE OF WANDS FOUR OF SWORDS

Idiot's Guide to Tarot

.. so I ordered this from Amazon, and I also ordered a deck of awesome cards with a companion book. The companion book is WAY over my head, but the Idiot's Guide is actually really good so far. I'm almost finished with the book, and I'm wondering what other good/simple to comprehend tarot reading is out there, and I was hoping that you guys could help me out. I know that practice makes perfect, and I've been doing a reading on me every morning (as suggested by the book).

I don't know, I guess I just wanted to know if picking up the idiot's guide was a good idea or not? Do you think it's dis-respectful to Tarot?

Levels of complexity

I'd like some feed back on this...I am reprinting a beginners tarot interpretation book first published about 10 years ago. I have since completed a somewhat more arcane and complex late intermediate interpretation is ready to be printed...would you as a reader prefer to see these printed as two seperate books or have me lobby to have them printed as one book. any comments?

i'm struggling right now with my scorpio moon, i actually just found a tribe that deals directly with that, but i'm a bit anxious for feed back. i'm not sure if doing a reading on myself is a good idea, i've always just read for other people. i read from the goddess deck. i understand it's not the conventional, but it's a deck that drew me to it years ago and the results have been surprisingly accurate overall. i'm wondering if doing a self reading might bring me something i dread or fear as far as my future. is it a good idea to read for yourself? or is maybe a fear i need to face. i shut my ability to read into my own life years ago because of a lot of past pain. perhaps the only way to unlock or answer questions might be to do a self reading. thanks

How do you decide which spread to use?

i use a variety of spreads and have found that some things require certain spreads, three card spread for a simple overall view, celtic cross for in-depth understanding, ( and you can layer it, adding new cards to the outside of the cross for greater insight)ive even used my arsd to determine the direction of my movement, using a North SOuth East WEst spread for determing which direction is the most auspicious, ( having a compass also helps). But when doing reading for a quesrant, i sometimes cant make up my mind which spread is the best one to use, how do you decide?

Study of the 22 Major Arcana

++Let us start seeing the existing relationship of the 10 Sephiroth with the first 10 cards of the Tarot.

The seven planets of the solar system are the seven Sephiroth. And the Thrice-Spiritual Sun is the Sephirothic Crown.

These Sephiroth live and palpitate within our Consciousness and we must learn to manipulate and combine them in the marvelous laboratory of our interior universe.

The Ten Sephiroth are:

Kether – Crown; The equilibrated power; the magician, the first Arcanum of the Tarot whose primeval hieroglyph is represented by a man.

Chokmah – Wisdom; the Popess of the Tarot; occult wisdom, the Priestess. The second card of the Tarot; the moon, primeval hieroglyph is represented by the mouth of man.

Binah – Intelligence; the planet Venus; third card of the Tarot, the Empress, primeval hieroglyph is represented by a hand in the attitude of grasping.

These three Sephiroth are the Sephirothic Crown.

The other seven inferior Sephiroth come in the following order:

Chesed – Mercy; Jupiter, the Divine Being, Atman, primeval hieroglyph is represented by a breast. The four card of the Tarot, the Emperor.

Geburah – Severity; the Buddhic body of the Man, the Pope or the Hierophant of the Tarot, Mars, the warrior of Aries.

Tiphereth – Beauty, Venus of Taurus, love of the Holy Spirit, the Causal Body of the Man, the sixth card of the Tarot, the Lover.

Netzach – Victory, Justice of the Arcanum, the seventh card of the Tarot, the chariot, Saturn.

Hod – Glory, Mercury of Gemini, the eighth card of the Tarot, the Eternity of all.

Yesod – Foundation, the Sun of Leo, the ninth card of the Tarot. The Hermit, the Absolute.

Malkuth – Kingdom, the entire universe, Mary or Virgo, Nature.

These ten Sephiroth live within our Being and are our inner solar system. The Tarot is intimately related with Esoteric Astrology and with Initiation.

How do you clean your cards

When I bought my first deck of cards, I was not given any basic instuction of the maintenance and upkeep.... some years later I was asked if I clean my cards.... puzzled I asked what do you mean and was told that my cards should be smudged with sage. That was about 3 or 4 years ago. Thing is I do not really use sage and instead use frankinsense and myrr. I even lay them out on the windowsill to catch the energies of the sun and moon to recharge.
How do you clean your cards. Is the "traditional" way the only way or do you do what you feel is best.

New to Tarot/Emperor Reversed

Hey everyone! I'm an utter Tarot novice and I was hoping to get some interpretation input/advice, if anyone is interested. Any general interpretations/opinions of the Emperor card and/or reversals would be very much of interest and appreciated, as would any comments regarding its place in my reading and/or comments on the reading overall.

I did an online Tarot reading this afternoon. Now, I'm sure doing it via an online system has all sorts of problems and is absolutely not a great way to do one, especially since I know so little about Tarot symbolism. However, the cards I drew were really intriguing and felt very relevant, though with the addition of a rather puzzling final card (the Emperor in reverse). All of this made me even more interested in learning about Tarot so I could interpret my results, myself, at a more personal and thorough level. But, for the time being, I had to basically go off of the site's interpretations (and a bit of intuitive guessing and online research as to various cards' meanings).

I asked 'How should I direct my creative energy most efficiently at this time?' (with facade.com's Tarot feature) and used a 'Creative Process' spread.

For the middle/'creative force behind the project' card, I drew the Knight of Cups. I immediately felt this was a fitting description of myself, in many ways, so this made sense to me.

For the top/'imagination' card, I drew the Hermit. This also seemed relevant to the sort of reflection I tend to do when I'm in a creative zone (a very isolated, sort of lonely, introspective mindset). It could also refer to protagonists of a number of projects I began working on a little while ago (projects which I later abandoned when I fell into the creative slump I'm still stuck in).

For the left/'emotion' card, I drew Death. Traumatic change/transformation/rebirth are very relevant as themes both for some recent events in my life, as well as some of what I was writing about pre-creative-slump.

For the bottom/'thought' card, I drew the High Priest. I should read up on this card, because I'm not quite as clear on it and the bits on the site about traditional values/ideas don't seem especially relevant to me, how I work, or the content of my work (as far as I can think). But other mentioned qualities - receiving guidance, inspiration, instructions learning; being supportive, sympathetic, and loyal; hearing a higher or inner voice; and maybe even a 'marriage' (not a literal/exact marriage) - feel fairly relevant to my life and creative process. (Though using these things as processes for thinking about/organizing/conceptualizing creative work is a bit tricky, as some of them aren't things that can be directly sought out and controlled. Listening to a higher or inner voice especially and learning/receiving guidance from someone stand out as especially useful in terms of active ways to work and advice to take in this part of the reading).

Here's the perplexing (to me, anyway) final card, though...

For the right/'manifestation' card, I drew the Emperor, reversed. I researched the meaning of the Emperor a bit and I think I ought to learn more about reversals and various ways of how to interpret them. How do you guys interpret reversals? Are they always (or almost always) negative? I'm confused about how to read the reversed Emperor as ADVICE for how to harness my creative energy and produce creative work, because the Emperor reversal interpretations I'm reading seem to so heavily be about misuse of authority, inability to effectively act/lead, and lack of confidence and ambition. A thought I have about how to read this as my 'manifestation' card is that it is how I HAVE BEEN acting (which is true and this has been preventing me from being creative, which is frustrating), rather than how I SHOULD manifest creative products. Maybe this card is an indicator that I should work against these patterns and towards the symbolic meaning of the non-reversed Emperor? I should be ambitious, active, organized, and work/lead efficiently in order to accomplish my creative goals? Or, alternately, might the reversed Emperor symbolize, here, conformity and conventional, authoritarian approaches to things and should the active work I put into accomplishing my creative goals be gone about in a non-conformist, unconventional, loose and collaborative manner? Opposite readings! Not sure what to think...

Long-winded! My apologies. But if anyone has thoughts on any of this babbling, I'd love to hear 'em!

i had my cards read about 2 to 3 weeks ago. the cardreader told me 2 ask a question i asked her if my boyfriend loves me bein dat were havin problems and she started out tellin me how my boyfriend loves me and he feels very lucky 2 hav me in his life. then i asked her if sum1 is doing vodoo or any kind of work on me n my boyfriend and she sed no, that the problems dat we hav r between him n i. then i explained 2 her that i hav been witnessing unexplained things happen. thats the main reason y i got the reading and she kept sayin no. while she was tryin 2 figure thangs out the cards fell.. so she did the process ova then wen she threw the cards she told me that my boyfriend has 2 other girlfriends and dat he's living w/1 of dem... she then told me that my boyfriend dosent love me and that i do hav work dat is being done on me by both of the girls. she threw the cards again askin if my boyfriend luvs me n she sed he doesnt. now my question is does this normally happen wen u tell a client 1 thing then wen u throw the cards again n it seds something else?? i don't understand how she can read 1 thing then it changes 2 something else... any insight at all?

A friend of mine has found herself in a difficult situtation (professionally and personally- she lost her job and she was separated from a person very dear to her) since 2007, which doesn't seem to change. She asked the cards about how to break free from all these and she got
Ace of wands 4 of pentacles and Page of cups.
Then she asked about a new job she's discussing and she got a similar answer
Ace of wands Judgement and Knight of cups
As I know too much about this person, I'm not sure I can see things clearly and unbiased.
what do you think? :)

Reversed Cards - How do you read them?

I've always been interested in the matter of reversed cards. How do you read them?

I know some who choose to read ignore reversed cards and treat them the same. I know some who think they literally mean that the card's meaning is the opposite to what it would have been and there are many grey areas in between. So how do you read reversed cards?

The other point to it is that how you choose to lay out the cards is what determines if they are reversed. I had huge problems with this when I was first learning. I've since calmed down about it and became less anal, but I was generally worried I was laying them out wrong and no books explain it. For example, imagine that you draw a cross on the back of the card. If you turn the card along the axis that is running top to bottom, then the card remains the same as it was in pack, if however you turn the card along the horizontal line, then the card becomes inverted to what's in the pack. Which one is right?

Loyalty to one deck?

One of my friends who has been reading tarot for years was telling me that she maintains loyalty to only one deck even though she owns gazillions. I have been struggling with this. I had been using the Golden Tarot almost exclusively, though have since switched to the Spiral deck (which I am in love with, and have a great rapport with)

However, I really want to start using my Bohemian Gothic deck because I love, love, love it, and feel like I could give alternative readings with it (though I am still in the 'getting to know you' process with this one)

Thoughts? one deck exclusively, or multiple decks??

Which Major Arcana card do you find the most perplexing?

For a long time it was the Hierophant. I would reference many books and resources. I would ask other readers. I finally did some intense work - meditating and going into the card. This is what I discovered:

I probably withdraw from this card because of its connotations to organized religion. Raised in the church, I started having dreams and premonitions which were shunned by many as evil. My dad, a chaplain in the Navy, was the only one who put it in perspective for me. He called them gifts and was excited that God had chosen to use me in this way. I thought I would find acceptance again. But instead, I met close minded people who saw me as evil and a threat.

I've grown beyond that now, studying metaphysics helped a lot. It is not the Devil worship that these close minded people feared. The more I learned, the more I agreed with my Dad--It is a gift from God-or however you choose to define the divine.

I've learned that the Hierphant represents the spiritual path, he is a light and a guide to others; all that is good and right about organized religion. However, he can become stodgy and mired down in dogma. Now when I see this card I have a new perspective to draw from.

How about you? Still searching? Something to add?

Hi i am new to tribe. I joined for several reasons, firstly i was approached by a stranger who told me that i should consider becoming a Reiki Consultant - i had no idea what she meant; therefore did a search.

Secondly, i have been trying to have kids, but so far i'm not pregnant. I would like to know, if someone can tell me - how soon will i get pregnant?

Celtic Cross Spread Question

I did a reading back in August asking if an immediate family had cancer. I had a feeling it may have been a 'yes' answer because the #6 position was the Hermit....??? Keep in mind, I'm not even close to expert level and maybe I misread that card.

My question is, how far can the celtic cross spread read into the future without asking for exact time frames? Do the cards just know? Or did it mean within that week? Meaning, if that was in August, the results were unfortunately positive for cancer, and the Sun was in the#10 spot, did that reading mean that the time frame would end after surgery when we received the results, or could it expand into 4 months later after treatment finished (so far, so good)? And why did I get the Sun card.... to me, that signaled, good health and a happy outcome! It was very, very wrong. Things are OK now, but I constantly live in fear and to me, that's not a sunny situation!!!

I started writing a post, but it grew too long so I made it a blog instead - I have hypergraphia, you see, I just can't stop writing sometimes. At school, teachers would always say my writing was too long-winded and at university I always struggled to squeeze my essays into the allotted word count. But again, I go off on a tangent! Back to the point... I'm trying to get a home for the first time, and for the first time dealing with the heartache of someone else getting to a home before I could make a move on it, the frustration of getting the mortgage to come together, etc. So my question is:

How likely am I to get the home on East 5th Avenue that I'm wanting, and what should I do bargaining-wise to make it more likely for me to get it? I'm willing to pay the full asking price as long as they pay closing costs (they'll have to for it to work!), but should I make that my *first* offer? I'm afraid if I bid low to begin with, someone else will get it.

Where is my house???!

Hello... I feel like I've been gone from here forever.

I wonder if anyone would be willing to read for me... I'm trying to get a mortgage loan/home... the home I really wanted I'm pretty sure has just been sold, because they've taken the sign out of the yard. If this home is definitely gone for good (I've called the realtor to see...) will I find a home that is equally as appealing? What about the house on Glenwood...would I be happy there? If Karen and Leslie moved in with me in that house, which is what we're hoping to do...would there be enough room??

Remember! In order for the game to keep going, you not only have to
answer someone's question, but then ask a new one yourself.

One person asks a question, the next person will draw a card and answer it, then ask a question him/herself, and so on...
You can even participate more than once if you like.

I was unsure which tribe to post this on, Dreaming or tarot?

I started learning tarot maybe 4 weeks ago. I stopped 2 weeks ago because I started having these intense dreams where I am taken/sucked inside different cards and the figures and landscapes within them were alive. Nothing bad would happen but I would wake up exhausted. I love my sleep so I decided to take a break.

Last night I was back in my intense dreams and this time I was in India dressed in one of my old Punjabi outfits in a place called “Tarot” (saw a sign). My dream was so real that I decided to stop my hiatus and I sleepily stumbled to my deck and picked out the ones that I felt resembled the different parts of my dream. I use the Mystic Dreamer Tarot Deck. The interpretations are from my book.

Section 1 of dream
I am in a small rubber boat being steered by a girl. There are many other boaters in this large canal
Card: 6 of Swords has two women in a boat and one is steering.
Interpretation: Moving from rough waters to smooth. Leaving a bad situation

Section 2 of dream
The girl points in the direction we are going. There are two giant towers in mist on either side of the canal which has narrowed.
Card: The Moon has two towers with a water in between
Interpretation: Pay attention to your dreams. Separate intuition from Fears

Section 3 of dream
We are past the towers and I am laying on my back and the girl points to the bridges above me.
Card: 5 of cups has contains a woman and bridges
Interpretation: Time of difficulty and loss. Opportunity for growth. Look at opportunity around you and move forward

Section 4 of dream
I turn into a little boy but am seeing myself through the other girl’s eyes
Card: Knight of Pentacles is a young boy.
Interpretation: Represents a guy in my life who is extremely organized, maybe annoyingly so. He is a loner, preferring to stay home then go to large parties

Section 5 of dream
The boat falls over an underground waterfall and flows through tunnels of stone. When I get out the girl and I climb up a few stairs. I look up and there is a hole on the other side of the wall but the water is moving in reverse.
Card: Reversed Ace of Cups, has water flowing out of one giant goblet/fountain
Interpretation: Feeling depleted need of spiritual refreshment or overwhelmed with emotions.

Section 6 of dream
My feet feel warm and I look down to see blood seeping up from the grate we stand on. I hear the roar of the water. The girl closes our only exit and says this is the only way for you to be purified. She hugs me as water and blood pours up from below. It reaches my chest then over my head for a moment. When I open my eyes the water has receded. The room is quiet except for the dripping of the water off the walls and stairs. I realize that I am still dry but the soles of my feet are stained with the blood and looks like the red paint of an Indian dancer.
Card: 10 of Swords is the only card I have where there is blood near the feet.
Interpretation: Acceptance at being beaten. Feel calm and relived that you don't have to fight anymore

Section 7 of dream
I see sunset like light coming out of an opening I had not seen before. I walk out and am told to rub the blood off my feet with earth/dung before I exit the place/temple. I sit down outside and 2 girls in black approach me. I know them somehow. They walk away from me.
Card: 5 of swords has two women in black walking away from the third
Interpretation: Putting your own needs above the needs of others.

Any thoughts?

Last night whilst feeling particularly determined and insightful I did a COMPLETE deck, 5 card tarot reading where -

1. Past - Hierophant
2. Present - Judgement
3. Unexpected - Lovers
4. Immediate Future - Magician
5. Long term future - Death

Although I used the complete deck shuffled thoroughly I pulled only major arcana cards, what does this mean? Also could someone please help me interpret the reading as it seems a little too powerful for my novice abilities. I really would be very grateful - thank you.

Changing answers.....

I have been practicing tarot for over 10 years, yet am still not good. I just find it interesting. I read for myself and 'collected' over 6 different decks (fortune telling decks don't count). I have 1 main one that I 'trust' most, but use others too. Why is it that one question with 1 deck gives different answers to the same question with the others?! AND why is it that if I ask a question with the same deck one week, 3 weeks later, I get a different answer?! The future can't change that quickly, can it? I told you, I'm not very good. Should I trust the very first initial reading and go with that and ignore the other answers that I get?!!!!!

Also, can the tarot predict long term future, like how long someone who is sick is going to live if you give it a time frame (ex: 5 years from now)?

Opening of the Key spread and the Aces

Does anyone use the Opening of the Key spread? I did the entire operation only once. It was very revealing but I ended up getting a little lost towards the end. I now mainly stick to the first operation and it never lets me down...its by far the most powerful and revealing spread I've ever used. (when I use spreads, this is what I turn to)

Aleister Crowley (in his Book of Thoth) uses a different counting system than the Golden Dawn when it comes to counting the Aces. For every Ace, he instructs to count 11, whereas the Golden Dawn says to count 5 (one for each element). I don't agree with the GD's method but I sort of see where they're coming from...

I use Crowley's system based on a personal affinity for the number 11. This number is my guide, my muse, my companion throughout everything in my life. Its everywhere, like its built into my very DNA and projected onto the world around me. (not always the literal digit 11, but the correspondences that are attached to it)

But anyway, I intuitively understand and jive with Crowley's use of 11 instead of 5 for the Aces. The way he thought and understood things took him to very deep levels. He was also probably influenced by 1/60 in the Book of the Law: "My number is 11, as all their numbers who are of us"... Infinite space and possibility, unmanifested potential becoming a spark that could arise into something more. That describes the Aces pretty well in my opinion.

I've always had good results counting the Aces as 11, and it just feels "wrong" for me to count 5 for some reason.
What does everyone else think about this? What do you use?

I did a double celtic cross to find out where things might lead with my new guy. We've only been dating for 2 months and things are still pretty new and exciting. The spread I got seemed really interesting, but I had a hard time putting it all together:

Querent #1 - Star and R 5 of Pentacles
Influences #2 - Death and Strength
Past #3 - Chariot and 3 of Swords
Why asked the Q#4 - 5 of Cups and Page of Wands
What will happen#5 - Ace of Cups and Hermit
What will happen#6 - 2 of wands and Page of Cups
Hopes and Fears#7 - 4 of Pentacles and Magician
Outside Environment#8 - Page of Pentacles and 10 of Pentacles
What we go through/how we get there/key factor#9 - World and Heirophant
Outcomes#10 - 6 of Cups and Moon

Would love help interpreting this spread, especially the 6 of Cups and Moon as and outcome and the Word and Heirophant as what we go through or key factors.

Love tarot reading (help)

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this tribe but I am somewhat familiar with tarot. I haven't been able to do a reading effectivley without an interpretation book at hand and after a while the descriptions get to be so repettitive. I would love a new perseptive and this reading has been particularly tricky for me. I am using the Rider tarot deck but usually I use Thoth. I chose the celtic cross spread and my question was about the outcome of a potential relationship that I am interested in pursuing.

1. King of Swords (reversed)
2. 2 of cups
3. Queen of Wands
4.10 of pentacles (reversed)
5. Death XIII
6. The Magician (reversed)
7. 3 of cups
8. page of cups
9. The Moon XVIII
10. The High Priestess II (reversed)

Something that I found very interesting/disturbing was that there were only 3 major encharta that all fall in positions related to the future. Position 5 represents an alternate outcome and is filled by death, Position 6 represents the near future and is filled by the Magician reversed, and Position 10 represents the ultimate outcome and is filled by the High Priestess reversed (which is terrifying me).

I need some help putting it all together especially by someone who is familair with the 3 major encharta listed.

Lethargic to the max

So yesterday I was feeling particularly lethargic after an adjustment from my chiropractor that was supposed to alleviate shoulder pain from sitting at a computer all day, every day. I perused my cards and came across the 4 of cups. I showed it to my husband and we talked about it. As I sat on my butt mindlessly in front of the TV, I shuffled my cards for about 10 minutes straight. Then I cut the deck three times and dealt three cards:

4 of cups
3 of pentacles
the moon

I am always amazed - yet never amazed - when a card asserts itself like that. It's always fun to hear others' interpretations of readings, so if anyone wants to give some input, I'd love to hear it!

Lovers card

how do you intreprete the Lovers card for a reading? For instance, I was on Mysticgames website. Clicked on the love oracle and recieved the lovers card. So last nite we did a ritual for my brother Steven that passed away a week ago. My mother, his boyfriend and I asked him if he had any message for us and choose a tarot card together from the Crowley deck.
The card we got was the DEATH card.
I find it such an interesting card to interpret in this situation.
Does that mean he is in a bad place in bardos? That is caught up somewhere on his journey?
That is in a rebirth process already?Makes me wonder?
I was feeling at peace with his death before this.
Anyone have an wisdom to share on this?

Time and again one sees "doom and gloom" interpretations of The Tower card, and admittedly it can be the harbinger of some pretty rough rides. However, by focusing strictly on the alarming aspects of the card one often loses sight of its positive aspects. Many "happy" changes can also be extremely difficult. Change by its nature is difficult even when it is necessary and good, and we humans - comfort seeking missiles that we are - often get uncomfortable when confronted with change. Heck, in the current Presidential race the call for change has unleashed all sorts of war dogs.

So - without resorting to spin or sugar coating how does one incorporate The Tower into one's Tarot practice, whether it be readings, magick, meditation, &c.

facing direction when reading..

There may be an obvious answer to my question but wanted to get some feedback.

When doing a reading for someone, which direction should the 'reader' place the cards?
facing towards the reader or towards the inquirer?

I ask this because the last time I read for someone (celtic cross layout) I had the cards facing me,
while the inquirer was across from me.
When I caught this.. I later flipped the cards to read as they were facing her and of course it shifted the
interpretation a bit?

Any suggested thoughts on which direction to face the cards when doing a reading?

Causes for Loosing the Perception

About ten years ago I met a an incredible tarot card reader that was unbeleivably accurate. He was so accurate, he moved away from the psychics bookstore that he worked at and started his own business. However, in the past couple years he's been totally off. I know that psychics can't be right all the time. However, how can a psychic be completely wrong for two years in a row? Has anyone heard of people loosing the gift to read tarot cards? If you have, do you what the reasons were for loosing the gift?

? Tree of Life Paths - Tarot Card Associations ?

Hello Everybody

I have been studying and using tarot for about ten years. I started with Rider Waite, and I now use the Thoth deck. The book that has revolutionized my use and understanding of the Thoth deck is a book called The Crowley Tarot. Having used this deck and this book for several years now, I am much more confident and productive with my readings.

I have been studying the Kabbalah/Tree of Life in association with the Tarot symbols for years as well. I have, for countless hours, and days, sat researching, reading, sketching, writing, thinking, meditating, typing, organizing and formatting my research. It basically amounts to more information than insight, though breakthroughs do occur periodically. When they do, it's very exciting!

I've given you this background on me to give y'all an idea of where I'm at, so as not to waste anyone's time. I am researching for the long term goal of creating my own Tarot deck. The question that has been getting me for quite some time is this:

What could be considered the "true" associations of cards to paths in the tree? Or anything else for that matter... I do mean anything... card, character, number, number of cards, planet, sign, path, position, sephiroth, location and on... ?

Sure, there are other systems to draw on, astrology, chakras and so on, but how do we "truly" determine what goes where and why? I mean, really. REALLY...

The deeper implied question is: Just how subjective can the Tree of Life associations be? Is there a "one true" series of associations i.e. status-quo, modern contemporary Tarot? Or is this just one convenient, previously established subjectivity in objectivity/truth's clothing? Who says what these associations are or should be? huh? huh? huh?

I'd love any input or opinions on what people like from a deck, that is, for the purpose of getting a concise, specific, practically applicable reading. (That is what I am shooting for anyway.)

Maybe on a scale of 1 to 10 (hehe), you could rate what you value in a deck's symbolism. 1 being innovation and 10 being tradition, 5 being equal parts familiarity and newness in symbolism.
