It's a network analysis and visualization software tool, developed in Slovenia, I think. It seems to have capabilities that I have only begun to tap. The documentation is a bit cryptic. Wondering if there are others who have tried it. You can find it on a google search.

no kidding about cryptic. do you understand the file format? i downloaded a spreadsheet converter and it seems to create a file with a list of vertices and a list of edges. i'm still trying to figure out what the columns mean.

if i knew what those columns mapped to... i've been going through their documentation and am not finding this key piece of info... any insights?
        gracias :)

I have a python scripts that takes a list of pairs of vertices and turns them into pajek format. Then you can edit it by hand to add colors, etc. Let me know if you want it.

neat thanks! but before i even get to that point i need to know which column = label, which = color etc?

its so basic i feel like i'm missing something and this mapping is sitting right there on that website and i'm not noticing it... :)

Yeah, I figured it out from the website. Somewhere in there there's a cryptic description of the file format.

Maybe if you download the docs, they might have something different in them?

i'm trying to programmatically create a .net file and use jung (jung.sourceforge.net) to render it...

Not that hard once you finally figure it out. Have fun!

                      wow,
I just downloaded Pajek and can't wait to figure it out, but on the way to this endeveor, I had to look at prefuse which looks pretty cool, but then I spied Piccolo, and man did the lights go on! Has anyone checked this out? It sports a zoomable user interface(ZUI) and how totally cool. I see all kinds of possibilities for this.

                      Thanks everyone for the info.

For anyone interested, Piccolo is at the bottom of the Prefuse website.
