What sign is/are your Sun Pluto interactions in and how do you think that effects the way these energies are expressed?
I have both in Libra (conjunction)
I think it makes the thing a little more focused on the intellectual part of the transformational processes associated with pluto.
And that the need to find balance with the intensity is a central part of my personality

Re: what sign
07/18I have my Sun in Taurus (12th house) opposite Pluto in Scorpio (6th house).
I think this brings sexuality into the transformational process (with the opposition bringing in some amount of turbulence in sexual relationships/interactions) and emphasizes the (already quite Plutonic) need to let go of comfort and stability and open up to change.
Expanding the topic a bit, I think my Pluto/Sun house placements also indicate a tendency towards ruthless, sometimes crippling, self-analysis and self-criticism and the need to let go and to allow inspiration and a sense of detachment from the self take over in order to - seemingly paradoxically - express my individuality.
-
Re: what sign
07/18Sun and Pluto also in Libra/ 8th house.
I play the law of averages. As an air sign, I'm quite "mental". I have a need to think profusely.
Expanding upon house placement and aspect, I say that I made a contract with G-d to identify with the collective shadow. I'm not intense, but I am "hidden". -
-
Re: what sign
07/18PS By the term "law of averages", I mean I do the Libra thing and get stuck when having to choose a path.
I guess a better term to use is "devil's advocate". -

Re: what sign
07/19i have sun pluto conjunction in libra in fifth thouse. I get pretty obsessed with my lovers and hobbies, its really intense area for me
With sun pluto conjunction i basically act a little dictatorial at times and since its in libra it takes my need for justice to extreme.

Re: what sign
07/20Another Pluto Libra Sun...conjunct Mars: The need to get below surface level and beyond: always have to know how things work, what is REALLY happening: whether it's my own psyche, other people's thoughts and feelings, Life, everything,
I won't let up until I have definite answers..Most of the time, it's not even a conscious effort: I just get the info I need - to reshape it and renew the way I and the rest of the world experience Reality.
I will never use it to manipulate situations for my own benifit, but try to find balance in what should be done regardless of my own interests..Then again, when I know it to be the right thing to do, I will not shy away from transforming the way people think.
I'm not a social Libra...more of a loner...relationships are met with in a very, serious intense way - a search for a 'perfect' union. I have had to kill off a lot ot them because of the 'usurpation' problems associated with Pluto. I think he works best in Cardinal signs: respectively in Libra (balance) and Capricorn (detachment) -
-
Re: what sign
07/20I realise it makes more sense if I put it in context: Also Uranus conjunct Sun and Merc. in 8. -

Re: what sign
07/20"The need to get below surface level and beyond: always have to know how things work, what is REALLY happening: whether it's my own psyche, other people's thoughts and feelings, Life, everything, "
this is me too, but i think its also partly couse of my scorpio planets.
and deffinately i am a loner too. Im so unsociable its kinda funny ,but i just have very little need for other people, i can spend days alone and not even notice it. Its like im mostly living in my head or im preocupied with other stuff that interest me. Love to read ,research, dont like to mingle or talk much. -

Re: what sign
07/21The Sun-Pluto in Libra cusp generation are an intersting bunch, in a way they represent a merger and understanding of these in many ways contrary energies... Especially the cusp of both sign represents the first clouds of battle in Scorpio after the relative peace and amicality of Libra...

Re: what sign
07/25It does seem like a particularly interesting, troubling cusp. And it's also very interesting that four of the five posters in this topic have Sun conjunct Pluto in Libra, of all the places where their Sun-Pluto aspect could be happening. -
-
Re: what sign
07/25It's not that odd that the sun conjunct pluto is happening in libra as pluto is a very slow moving planet and was in libra from 1971-1984 meaning anyone from the ages of about 23 to about 36 was born during pluto in libra.
I did; however, expect to see other aspects besides the conjunction addressed a little more though....... -
-
Re: what sign
07/26Yes, if one can even speak of a 'good placement' of Pluto...I imagine he works best in Cardinal Sun combinations. Perhaps you should post in the Aries, Cancer and Cap tribes (with a link to this one), perhaps you will stumble upon somone with a Cardinal Cross involving Pluto....I've known some Cancer Sun, Moon Pluto squares and there Pluto is much more personal. Not so hidden as in f.i. Scorpio or 'metaphysical' as in Libra sun conjunction , yet far more actively transforming other people on an emotional level, almost (strangely) Neptunian. -
-
Re: what sign
07/31By "Cancer Sun, Moon Pluto squares," are you referring only to people with Sun in Libra? My Cancer Sun sextiles Pluto in Virgo while my Sagittarius Moon squares Pluto. I do experience Pluto in a very personal way and also feel very Neptunian though that may be explained by my Neptune in Scorpio and Pisces on the MC. I would appreciate any elaboration of which configurations experience Pluto on a more personal level. -

Re: what sign
07/31Correction: Obviously a Cancer Sun won't have Sun in Libra! My question is, in your view, does your statement apply only when Pluto is in Libra? -

Re: what sign
08/06Sorry, it took so long, but I wasn't aware there were new posts to this topic... Well, what I said...In my experience, when I compare my own Pluto conjunction with squares (obviously Cancer-Cap Suns), what strikes me most is that I'm aware of the Plutonic tendencies (on a personal level) as something coming from a transpersonal source, something going beyond what I identify with.
People I know with the Cancer or Moon contacts squares or oppostions are much more involved in using their Self to wield their personalities over others in a constructive or destructive way...The water, moon contact makes Pluto much more personal, as most of us identify with our feelings.
Pluto in air/ libra makes it more abstract and there is more room for observation and distance...Pluto is magnetic and compelling, a water personality can perhaps better integrate Pluto's intensely looming presence, but is more prone to compulsive and actively taboo-breaking behaviour.

Re: what sign
07/26That's definitely true, rose - there are plenty of people out there with the Sun/Pluto conjunction in Libra. I was just surprised that, of all the people in this tribe with their various Pluto/Sun aspects, nearly everyone responding to this thread had the same one. I suppose most people on here are likely to have their Pluto in Libra or Scorpio, though, but that could aspect a Sun in any other sign. I wonder if it's just coincidence or if people with the Sun/Pluto conjunction in Libra are particularly inclined to be here, for any reason. -
-
Re: what sign
07/26Yes, the reason is quite obvious actually. Conjunctions are indicative of a new cycle of expression. they are very much about self-identification. We Libra/Scorpio's are a curious bunch, we need to know, before we can move on. Oppositions are more about experiencing the energy in a relationship...outwardly projecting the need to tranform upon someone else. In this case, they would be Aries...who I guess thrive on this willful energy and find little need to ponder over the ins and outs of it.
Caps and Cancers would be more inclined to gain self-awareness in this regard, though the square energy is often experienced as something elusive and alien...as something that just happens. Trines and sextiles...well these are usually integrated into the personality structure, so little need to self-obsess.
Then...the generational thing Rose mentions is also a big factor...I imagine most people on astronuts are in the 25-45 category...
I suspect in a couple of years last decanate of Scorpio and first decanate of Sagittarius generations will emerge on tribe obsessing about the great earthshaker. -

Re: what sign
07/27This was written by Michele Adler. She is an excelent astrologer
Sun/Pluto is take-no-prisoners, intense energy. The conjunction can give charisma and a powerful presence. They can also be self-absorbed. I think it's important for Sun/Pluto conjunctions to acknowledge their own energy and power. If they don't, they will find it in other people, and it may not be to their liking. (This is true, though, of a lot of the conjunctions, in that if they disown the factor in their charts, it is played out through their associations and friends and, occasionally, family.) The advantage to this conjunction is that it understands transformation, and isn't afraid of it. The conjunction is found in the charts of people who assist others in transformation, such as psychologists.
The Sun/Pluto conjunction is an "honorary Scorpio" in much more subtle fashion than a true Sun in Scorpio. Obviously, if one has a Sun/Pluto conjunction in Sag, or Virgo, the Scorpionic energy will play out differently. (Sun/Pluto in Scorpio--and I'm sure many people have this since Pluto was in Scorpio in comparatively recent times--would be a highly charged dynamic.) -

Re: what sign
07/27Honorary Scorpio = Eagle Thanks... it's true about aknowledging and integrating Pluto, if you don't you will be 'usurped' ;) Pluto is much more than Scorpionic Energy, it is very much linked to Pisces, Aries, Libra and Capricorn...also all related to death and rebirth, albeit in different elements. -

Re: what sign
07/27Yes, there was this discussion on myspace and i agreed with some astroger there who basically said its superficial to equalize things so easily. He said pluto is not scorpio, 8-th house is not scorpio.
We had a discussion on scorpio tribe about this.

Re: what sign
07/28hey I have pluto conjunct north node in virgo in the 7th opposite 1st house sun in pisces. Naturally I have a tendency to see pluto in the other! 'They' try to usurp my power and asserting my independence becomes a matter of life and death. Owning pluto is kind of the lesson this time around...... -
-
Re: what sign
07/29Hey Ananda...
North Node conjunct Pluto, oppostion sun. So that means your South Node is conjunct your Sun? This is an aspect heavy with meaning. Can you give us some insight how NN and Pluto act together...how do you experience it? And the Sun on the nodes axis, you must be very aware of the karma you create and destroy....And SN in the first is just paradoxical...And lastly how does Pluto work in movable Earth? Many associate Pluto with Hades and Dionysos, Gods of the subconscious, how does Persephone and Demeter (Virgo) figure in all this?
-
Re: what sign
07/31ananda, that is a complicated set of things. i also have a sun/pluto opposition involving my nodes, but they're the reverse of yours. i have my south node conjunct pluto (6th house - sn in libra, pluto in scorpio) opposite a north node/sun conjunction (12th house - nn in aries, sun in taurus).
i definitely feel like the pluto/sun opposition lends itself to feeling controlled by others, but i sort of romanticize/eroticize the feeling of being controlled and seek it out. to a certain extent, i like feeling utterly controlled and mentally/emotionally possessed by someone, but - when i take a closer look at my behavior - i am usually trying to subtlety control them, at the same time. i also feel extremely angry and resentful if i let myself be 'controlled' by someone for too long without asserting myself, and i grow to feel powerless and useless, which makes me feel miserable. i need to find more of a balance there, clearly, as seeking out someone to control/validate me and give my life direction and meaning usually backfires, at some point. i have to find my own meaning.
i wonder if your north node/pluto and south node/sun versus my north node/sun and south node/pluto somehow changes our attitudes towards feeling overpowered by someone, as, from your post, it sounds like you are very resistant to people asserting power and control over you. i am, too, to a certain extent, but, again, initially i think i want to be controlled. it's coming from pluto to the sun versus coming from the sun to pluto... anyone else have an idea what differences that might set up? -
-
Re: what sign
07/31ha! just occurs to me that my hypothesis in this last post might have been influenced by me having saturn on my descendant and mars in capricorn (of course i like the feeling of being controlled by others).
but i'm still curious if this might be a pluto issue to any extent, as well, since giving up control is giving up power and self-direction, and power/will/meaning are all big pluto issues. -

Re: what sign
08/06Ive been away on a mind blowingly brilliant astrodrama course, oh my gods there's no better way to learn astrology than embody it like that..I've gained many new insights but more around my sat venus sq than pluto sun opp. In fact the opposition is wide, sun 14 26 pisces pluto 6 40 virgo node 6 degrees and for many years I didn't count it as in orb...I think what I may have thought in the past was coming from this opposition was in fact my sat venus square, very restrictive..and in fact like you Roth, when I fall for someone I have a tendency to feel possessed in a way that I really rather like..when that happens I'm the plutonian one and my sense is that i could wholly consume the object of my desire. i try to temper this so as not to scare them off in the early stages as I'm well aware that if it's the other way round and the feeling is not reciprocal i'll run a mile...sometimes it's quite a challenge for me to strike a balance between uninterested and totally obsessively interested, it's as though there's no middle ground... -

Re: what sign
08/06Partha
At the workshop I just attended I really got a good sense of pluto in virgo. I was in a bunch of virgos kind of tidying up the yurt and making small talk when suddenly in walk this bunch of hoodlum plutos all heavy and menacing, I wiped my spectacles clean and paired up some shoes, trying to pretend they weren't about to crash our scene..one of the other virgos asked whether they were illegal immigrants, they just kept getting closer and began to envelop us completely,,despite my nice guy protests, ' I say, just what do you think you're doing?' in the end there was no place to hide...you get the picture..as for my pluto nn my sense is that deep transformation is written up on a signpost for me, just flagged up and there's no escaping it ..the field in which i experience that is in relationship ...i yearn for a deep connection in which i lose my own little me identity , that of course sounds like neptune speaking and at times I find it hard to separate the strands, especially with transiting neptune right on my natal mercury opposing n uranus ( which also goes from 1st to 7th house)..... -

Re: what sign
08/06A Pluto gang...sounds like a contradictio in terminis...I thought Pluto makes us loners, in some way or another...What was their deal? I'm confused...even Scorpio's forming groups is unheared of...;) -
-
Re: what sign
08/06Though, speaking of Scorpios forming groups, they do often seem to all pop up together in sort of unintentionally-formed groups (or perhaps covertly, if intentionally, formed... even covertly from each other). There's a certain amount of wariness and trust that go together, there, where a Scorpio-influenced person senses a certain degree of seriousness and intensity in another person, and wants to either push them away for fear of them detecting too much or keep them close because they know they are able to detect a lot. The simultaneous fear of revealing and the want to reveal is the key here... Not sure if I'm even making sense, but I do seem to know a lot of Scorpionic types who cluster with other Scorpionic types, though all keep secrets from each other. -
-
Re: what sign
08/07Yes, that makes sense...control (lol) and fascination, but I can think of partnerschips, but groups...hmmmm?

Re: what sign
08/06I have a lot of time with the Saturn/Neptune-type distinctions from Plutonian traits, as well, for sure! So many relationship-oriented planetary and house connections to Saturnian/Neptunian things.
Maybe a lot of the Pluto opposition stuff resides in finding meaning, evolution, and transformation through relationships and other interpersonal interactions. And control could easily seep in there, because allowing someone else to give you and your very existence meaning is to surrender control and to want to do the same for someone is to try to take control. To want to lose yourself in someone else or vice versa could be a similar phenomenon.
These forces are terribly hard to keep separate... So many combinations of things at work all the time... -
-
Re: what sign
08/09"because allowing someone else to give you and your very existence meaning is to surrender control and to want to do the same for someone is to try to take control. To want to lose yourself in someone else or vice versa could be a similar phenomenon."
So, this is part of the absorption theme, but on a higher level: a conscious surrender. I allway thought of it in Saturnal and Neptunian termes. But you are right, Pluto has to do with letting someone else transform you (and vice versa), connect you to that realm of a relationship that goes beyond your self-image and self-awareness into the unknown, uncharted...Thanks for the insight....
