I was just sitting here at work wondering why is it that there are Tea Parties and Tea Time but only Coffee Breaks? Is it only me but isn't coffee getting the short end of the stick.
I mean tea has a special time, special food, and special rituals! I have nothing against tea, high tea, tea parties and the like. I have thoroughly enjoyed such things. I just think coffee deserves more than 15 minutes devoted to it! Perhaps we can come up with our own High Coffee!
Feel free to talk amongst yourselves...

Re: Tea Parties vs Coffee Breaks
Fri, January 12, 2007 - 4:34 PMFunny you should say that. I have been writing a cook book on such a thing as that. Biscotti is to coffee what a crumpet is to tea. I believe that American culture has cultivated the High Coffee hour...or 15 as you state it. :) -

Fri, January 12, 2007 - 4:42 PMoooh I love this Casey! If anyone should write it, it should be you. I know when I work with European Theater Companies we have tea breaks but even they are 20 mins instead of 15! I'd love to see some of your cookbook. I know someone who works in publishing. -

Re: Tea Parties vs Coffee Breaks
Fri, January 12, 2007 - 4:49 PMWhen I work on the excavations in Turkey we have tea breaks that last 20-30 minutes - with tea sets and everything.
I love the idea of High Coffee! I think I'll have to get some of my classmates to do it with me.
"4:00. Time for Coffee!"
or does High Coffee need its own time? Would it be in the morning? -

Re: Tea Parties vs Coffee Breaks
Tue, January 16, 2007 - 2:09 PMMy boss declared 3:00pm coffee time, some months back. She jumps up from her desk and yells, "3 o'clock, coffee time!" as she runs down the hall to the coffee maker. She thinks, and I agree, it's the perfect time, since it's the half-way point between lunch and going home, right when the doldrums hit. -

Re: Tea Parties vs Coffee Breaks
Tue, January 16, 2007 - 3:36 PMI love that she yells - sorta like a union boss calling break! Funny that's it after 3 now and I feel the urge for a coffee coming on. Years ago, on a show I was working on - we would have a Cappucino Lottery. We had to make our boss, Pat a Cappucino everyday. A Co-Worker would make it and have enough left over for one. So we would all pick a number and one person woudl win the Cappucino. Not only was it a wonderful pick me up - you also got to feel like a winner!

Re: Tea Parties vs Coffee Breaks
Wed, January 17, 2007 - 8:12 AMWhat a great boss!!! I wish had had someone like her at the last job, instead of getting the 'glare' when every I would take a few minutes away from the computer! (Now I am my own boss... and can take a break whenever...) And a 2:30 - 3:00 coffee break... yea... thats about the time when I'm just about drained of energy!

Re: Tea Parties vs Coffee Breaks
Thu, January 18, 2007 - 9:12 AMI would love the 3:00 coffee break - but the coffee on campus is far too .... well, shitty and horrid. I'd have to go home to get decent coffee. I guess I should start bringing a thermos with m own coffee. *sigh*
I use the Alfi Spider thermos 'cause it's funky and keeps my drinks piping hot til the end of the day. thermos.alficarafes.com/Spider...os.html

Re: Tea Parties vs Coffee Breaks
Thu, January 18, 2007 - 11:29 AMI ordered mine from Amazon and I think I got a better price & maybe even free shipping.
I'll vouch for the quality. It really does keep my coffee hot until the end of the day (of course, the coffee doesn't usually last that long)
