As many of you, dance is more than something I do on the weekend. It is my form of worship--it is how I connect with something Higher than myself. With that said, let me say that I have danced in churches in the past, but never in an African American Church--not even mhy own--due to negative stereotypical views about belly dance! I have always held on to the hope of one day sharing this dance with African American women in this area.
Well, my dream has now been realized! Saturday (Sept 20), Tribal Desires danced at an African American Christian Women's conference!!!! We had such a positive response and feedback from the women!! In fact, an older woman minister who isn't normally open-minded, actually grabbed me and hugged me and encouraged me to continue to take my "ministry" to more churches!
Dancing is so healing for the soul.
