This was a beautiful spiritual experience and I'm reallly inspired. While I miss my beautiful doggie Tara in her physical body, I was able to find some solace in the sessions that were unmatched elsewhere. <div>We can all think of well known people who inspire us- Einstien, Picasso, Belly Dance Super Stars- but I want to know about the lesser or unknowns who inspire you. I want to hear about the profound in the "every day". Maybe it is your neighbor or the way the breeze blows through the trees where you find inspiration. It does not directly have to relate to dance or other art forms since appreciating all the beauty of life is nourishing for our whole selves -mind, body, and soul- and finds its way into our art. <br/> <br/>I'm inspired by my Mother, who had 5 children and I always saw her as an artist. I'm inspired not only because she's extremely talented- she's one of those people who produce beautiful work from painting to woodworking to ceramics to photography to sewing to knitting, macrame, crochet, etc.- but also because she managed to make time to do these things even with 5 kids. this means she maintained a strong identity separate from mother in her children's eyes, while still attending to them well, which is important in my opinion. <br/> <br/>I'm inspired by my husband's persistance and determination when it comes to getting something done or figuring something out. He's also a talented video editor and can paint very, very well (I'm surprised he doesn't want to paint more, but isn't interested...) My son's delightful and charming personality inspires me, especially when it shines through even when he's teething. He inspires me to look at the world with new eyes and new excitement! /there are so many more things I want to do and see now that he'll be there experiencing it with me. <br/> <br/>I'm also inspired by a bright blue sky with puffy clouds on a sunny day (and my sister who has been photographing them and is also a very talented artist- you should see her work! she's here on tribe- Hillary Arrington, http://people.tribe.net/92f762e2-5da8-4c0b-9883-1754b8ea0ec5- ask her to post pics of her work here! And I'll post the pics of the murals she and my Mom did in my son's room- so awesome!) and the butterflies flying, floating around the flowering shrub in my yard. (I don't know the name of it, but my mother would- that's another skill of hers and my sisters', growing beautiful plants and knowing all about them from what they need to what they'll look beautiful with.) <br/> <br/>I'm inspired by my other sister, Jala, who has natural talent in belly dance and is able to find books on any subject - her many interesting interests, and her Doggie Mommy abilities. My younger brother is an ace with computers and can take any mechanical thing apart, fix it if it is broken and put it all back without prior knowledge of it- and has since he was a child. My two sisters and younger brother made embriodered quilt blocks for my son's friendship quilt and my Mom put it all together and added some embroidered character blocks. I was blown away!!! It is truely beautiful. My older brother can draw so realistically, it's kind of spooky. He's also an excellent painter and photographer. <div>I got my DVD today! <br/> <br/>(::smiling:: And of course as my students know, I sat down with pen and paper in hand to watch it!) <br/> <br/>Let me begin by saying that it is an awesome instructional DVD!!! The format makes you feel as if you are standing in an actual dance class!! All the moves are demonstrated and clear verbal instructions given. Each dance move is broken down, then drilled while Narah continues to provide verbal cues, even "calling" the positions for you! (Like I said--just like being in class!!!) <br/> <br/>Narah demonstrates her skill as an instructor by using techniques that facilitate the learning of the basic moves shown on the DVD. She creates associations between the dance moves and common objects or concepts. For example, using the letter "D" to explain the elliptical ribcage circle. As a Speech-Langauage Pathologist I recognize this technique as a highly effective way of enhancing one’s ability to learn new information. As a belly dance instructor I am just as aware that such mnemonics are a wonderful way of increasing a beginning dancer’s ability to execute moves properly. <br/> <br/>Narah is equally as creative in her approach to drilling as a means of improving a dancer’s technique. ::laughing:: For all my students who love my “hands” when I dance, Narah’s “caterpillar” drill is just what you’re looking for!!! <br/> <br/>As an belly dance instructor, I love the combinations she chose for this video! Layering and combining basic moves is a requirement for advancement from Basic I to Basic II in my classes. Narah gives a breakdown of how to layer and combine (verbal instructions and cues provided during the demo) the basic moves taught on the video. There are probably 200 dying or very sick animals - dogs, <br/>cats, rabbits. They are killing each other from hunger. No food or <br/>water for days. Many crates are <br/>needed. They also will need foster homes, <br/>food, bowls, leashes, etc; <br/> <br/>Preston County shelter needs foster homes for five, 6-wk old kittens w/ URI's (contagious, but treatable) <br/>&amp; many, many 40-60 lb dogs, a few larger, some w/ pups. Some females pregnant. <br/>All now vaxed, wormed. Need love, bathing, grooming, good nutrition, training &amp; more LOVE! <br/>I think they plan to s/n as $$ &amp; vet time is available. <br/>All foster animals must be kept till court case is over, maybe ~ 4 months or so? <br/>PC shelter has a simple foster parent form you can fill out on site for immediate approval. 304-329-3461. <br/>Rabbits: 8 does-- all pregnant, except possibly 2 doelings-- &amp; 1 buck, all in pretty good shape, are at my house now. <div>New Basic Belly Dance Technique classes will begin April 3rd and 4th. This is for those who have never had a belly dance class or would like to review the Basics for a solid foundation. $15/class or buy a package- 6 for $60, 8 for $80, 10 for $95. <br/> <br/>We started a new class, American Tribal Style at the beginning of February. This class focuses on movements specific to American Tribal Style belly dance as well as introducing Improvisational Choreography, a system of group Improv. It is appropriate for those who have been through the Basic Belly Dance Technique class at least one cycle and who are comfortable with that technique. Several people have expressed an interest in joining the class, so I will offer it in cycles. The new American Tribal Style class will be taught by Jala on Tuesdays, 5:30-6:45, starting April 4th. The cost is the same as the Basic Belly Dance Technique class. Please let me know if you would like to attend this class. The option to register online will be up as soon as my webmaster can get to it. <br/> <br/>American Tribal Style II will be held Mondays 5:30-6:45 starting April 3rd, and is appropriate for those who have completed the American Tribal Style class cycle we are currently holding. <br/> <br/>A new Basic Choreography class will start the week of April 3rd. It is appropriate for those who have completed at least one Basic Technique cycle and are comfortable with that technique. The new choreography (different from the one performed at the Feb. hafla) will incorporate basic movements and teach you basic transitions and performance skills. You will have the option of performing (not required!) at our hafla May 13th. Please vote for either Wednesdays 8-9:30 pm or Fridays 7-8:30pm. There will be an additional Saturday class held for two hours once during the cycle regardless of whether the class is held Wed or Fri. There will be a flat fee for this class which cannot be applied toward other classes. $ TBA. <br/> <br/>We also have an on-going Belly Dance Drills and Conditioning class held Thursdays 7:30-8:45. We cover strenthening and stretching exercises which help you build better technique as well as drill basic movements- the key to crisp, solid technique and getting the movements into muscle memory. If you have been through one basic belly dance Technique class, you are eligible to attend.
