just a heads up that there is a great event that has been happening in downtown oakland called ECSTATIC DANCE that is hooper-friendly. sunday mornings from 10:30 - 1:00 and Wednesday nights from 7:45-10:30, Ecstatic Dance welcomes body movers of all shapes kinds and sizes to participate in stretching and dancing your ass off. no talking on the dancefloor, no bar, no booze, no pretense.

hooping is welcome as long as it does not interrupt other dancers (usually along the sides/edges), so this is NOT a hooping-centric event and you can't really just hoop wherever you want to (although i've never had an issue), but i thought y'all would be interested if you haven't been yet.

it's a great community and a really nice alternative to the club scene.
