    From another thread, from Y:

    Try this...I'm not kidding either
all your stinky diapers in one load put 1 tablespoon of Dawn Dish soap in it
run it then run it again on hot, make sure to check the washer soon after its done if you see any soap bubbles run again and again till no more soap bubbles, I usually only have to do once though
then put them all in the dryer
they should smell a lot better and you've just stripped them...
Lola use this method for your fuzzi-bunz tooo!!
    Cheap and easy

      thanks simone :)

apparently i've needed this advice before!!

if i have one of the high efficiency washers, should i just put it inside the machine with the diapers and not in the tray up top that is usually used for detergent?

and i'm assuming i would do the usual initial soak/rinse cycle....

NO NO NO, you need to soak them in the Dawn in the tub if you put that shit in your washer it will look like that scene from Mr. Mom. They need to soak soak soak.

Also, I just found this KICK ASS product by BioKleen , Bac-Out. It's awesome for keeping the stink off the diapers in between strippings.

I just put it where the bleach should go ( i have a front loader too) and then dry the dipes on HIGH heat.

          whew. okay.

i'll do that after i wash the next batch of dirties.

how long to soak? a few hours or a whole day?

a few hours me thinks. I suck at doing it. I usually forget and then have to get the kids in the tub and then end up wringing them all out at that point in time, usually after an entire day.

sounds like a foreshadowing of what will happen over here, too.

thanks mama! sorry for the 50 questions...

oh, yeah, I LOVE the Bio-Kleen. I'd buy it by the gallon, if I could!

Bac-Out, that is. they sell the gallon jugs at all the cloth diaper stores in portland. check around, somebody should have it. and i soak my poopy-diapers in water with just a little bac-out and there's no stains or smell. love the stuff!

i have put regular blue dawn into my HE2 washer and it was fine...i loaded a squirt or so into the soap area...then i chose the cycle and added an extra rinse.

you could also do a vineger rinse toward the end or add a few drops of tea tree oil as an added measure.

cool, i'm gonna try this over the weekend. when i think of wringing out 15 diapers and liners by hand, i cringe!!

one last question -- if i'm stripping the diapers, should i also do the liners as well?

I use to have to wash my dipes at the laundry mat
so I just put them in the triple loaders
        put some white vinegar
triple loaders wash twice and rinse 3 times
if only I could buy one of those machines
