What to use?
Take the whole cloth kit with?
or 7th Generation?
or buy a G-dipe kit?
any votes?

Re: traveling
Thu, December 13, 2007 - 10:31 PMwhen we go to someone's house I take cloth dipes, but camping or to a hotel I take the g-dipes and they work great I got them at the used baby store and they are good for traveling, but I would never use them otherwise.

Re: traveling
Thu, December 13, 2007 - 11:03 PMI'm flying cross country, and I'm bringing 7th generation dipes with me on the plane and packing the cloth diapers to be used when we get there. I'm staying with family and they know I'm doing cloth and are okay with me using their washers.
When we drove 12 hours up to My husband's parents, we did clloth the whole drive and when we got up there.

Re: traveling
Thu, December 13, 2007 - 11:30 PMwhen we went to the east coast in september for 10 days i brought all of my pocket diapers & bought a gdiaper starter kit. got some gdipe inserts when we were there & used those. some of you may know that i like to use pocket diapers as covers, more than as pockets, with the insert (cloth or g) next to his skin. the gdiapers spoiled me in that i never had to lug around/wash stinky inserts. very nice.
i prefer g's over any brand of disposables because of the biodegradability & earth-friendliness. i would like to switch full-time to g's so i don't have to wash cloth inserts anymore.
that's my vote. -

Fri, December 14, 2007 - 10:21 AMWe use Fuzzi Bunz exsclsively now. I have a big wet dirty diaper bag. We just pack it with us and wash when we get there. -

Re: traveling
Fri, December 14, 2007 - 10:40 PMhmmm... I want to try G's but my sister is on a septic system, and I don't think the two go together happily (even though her husband is a plumber, I'd hate to be the one who caused "The Christmas Al spent under the house")
so I'm taking cloth and 7th gens for the flight. Maybe switch to G's for emergencies when we get back.
Thanks -

Re: traveling
Sat, December 15, 2007 - 4:31 PMFin just so ya know we have a septic and I've flushed probably like 15 G's down with no problem. They break up really small especially if you use the swish stick thingy. But they are kinda difficult to strap on a squiggly toddler sometimes.
When we went to Cortes in September we used 7th and G's and our Pocket diaps at night. Most of the trip we used the G's because we were staying at a hike in house with only composting toilets so the G's were perfect for that. I didn't want to hike out a bunch of used 7th gen disposables. blech and plastic disposables just make me feel guilty so I used them minimally.
But if you've got access to a washer dryer using your regular pocket diapers would be the most convenient no? -

Re: traveling
Sat, December 15, 2007 - 9:30 PMyeah, i agree. the g's are safe for septic systems. to be on the safe side, i often flush the inner part & throw the outer liner in the trash (unless it's poopy, then it's down the loo!) -
