Ironically my favorite thing right now isn't a piece of jewelry - it's an ACEO titled 'From the Shadows'; it's a horse looking out from the shadows under a tree, very subtle and I'm very pleased with it - especially since I hadn't done any painting in years! www.etsy.com/view_listing.php

What's your favorite animal? (Doesn't have to be a domestic animal.)

I don't have a favorite animal; they each have their own unique characteristics, how could I pick just one? Ok, my favorite animal is Animal from the Muppets! *LOL*

Qustion: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

        Here's one possibility:

        * Chasing after a couple of rugrats, hollering "Nana's gonna kill you guys when I catch you"!

        Here's another:

        * Relaxing in a swanky follow-up care Spa, after receiving a full face lift from a renown plastic surgeon!

What to do, what to do . . .

This poor candle of mine... how this pretty thing hasn't sold is beyond me, 293 views and with counters messed up, that could be wrong but it's the first item I put up for sale.

Question: Besides jewelry, what other hobbies do you have?

That is a pretty candle, did you hand carve the flower? I like making embedded candles. I put all kind of things in mine.

Other hobbies: Candlemaking (most recent) , sewing, crocheting, embroidery, macrame. Am thinking about getting my sewing machine back out and whipping up a few spring shirts.

What area in your hobby would you like to improve in or learn about?

Didn't carve the candle but I made a mold off this rose wall decoration I have. :)

Well, I'd like to learn more about jewelry, there's a lot of techniques I haven't learned yet. Hobby wise, I could use a refresher class on sewing... like, I forget how to do a zipper!

Question: What's a happy childhood memory of yours?

My Dad teaching me to ride a horse, or in this case, a really NASTY shetland pony stallion named Pinto. I was about 8 years old. Bareback. He ran me under tree limbs and I fell off. He ran me up against barbed wire fences and I fell off. He'd run down a hill and stop and I'd fall off the front. The whole time, my Dad is standing over by the fence, smoking, drinking a Budweiser and yelling "get your ass back on!"!! OK, might seem dysfunctional to some, but I was so horse-crazy and such a Daddy's girl, it was great! Especially since he never taught my brother to ride!!

Next question: What's the one food you absolutely cannot eat? (Organ meats are a given!)

            1. Janes question... that would have to be cantelope!!! Just the smell of it makes me gag.

            2. Most frustration yet rewarding is this:
            www.etsy.com/view_listing.php
That took 3 tries to get it right... the first one I fried the bezel and had to start over, the second one I fried the gem sets and the solder got all into the cracks of the hammered texture, so I had to start over. Third was a charm and I'm thinking of unlisting it and keeping it for myself, I just love it. :)

Question: What are you shy about? Hee hee.

I'm shy about public speaking!!! That also carries over to communicating this way, too! I thought that it would be easier; but I was wrong! So, I am trying to respond to anything that catches my attention!

Next question: Do you find it more difficult to work with colors that you are not comfortable wearing? I have to push myself to do it and then I am usually VERY pleased with the results.

What a good question. The answer is yes...even though I work with a wide range of colors and my personal style is all about colors!! Check this out for example: www.etsy.com/view_listing.php
Some colors just don't turn me on so therefore it is hard for me to be creative with them.

Southern California by far is my favorite most beautiful place, down around the Newport Beach to Laguna Beach area ,its not only beautiful to the eyes but I found there to be many beautiful people there and so many things to do and learn about . I love it !! Thought I was goiing to get to see Hawaii this summer but my little girl is coming home instead so never having been to the east coast I may give that a look see this year but I can't imagine anything topping Laguna in my eyes .
Ok enough and on to the next question ,
What is your favorite gemstone and why ?

Opal. So pretty and shimmering, so fragile and delicate. So deep, you can look into it and never see everything. Actually I like most gemstones that display those qualities, like Labodorite, Amazonite, Moonstone....

OK, Ahna's going to make me answer my own question. Thinking about it kept me awake from about 1:30 until 4:00 this morning. Here goes (and this is before any caffeine):

There are things that I TRY to do.

I try to see something good in every situation. Like today - it was 10 degrees when I left for work, BUT all the snow was so gorgeous on the trees.

I try not to live and breathe my day job (which really does suck the soul out of me). So when I'm driving in, thinking about how much I hate my job, I remember that I have unlimited internet access!

I try not to live my life according to the expectations of others.

I try not to wonder why humans are the only mammals with the capacity for evil.

I try to remember that I don't know what anyone else is really thinking, so don't take everything personally (or so seriously).

And, I've come to realize, and more importantly accept, that not only can I NOT control everything, the reality is that I control absolutely nothing.

Some days I'm better at these things than others.

I think this is what I do, although I didn't realize it until the question was asked. 'Digging in the dirt', 'playing with my plants'; everyone in my family describes what I do differently. But it boils down to this: when I need a little lovin'-I give a little to Ma(Mother Nature)! Being in touch with her really gives me a boost!

Somewhere between 10 and 20! I've lost count. I have a lifetime subscription to Rolling Stone from when they offered it for $99. I subscribe to tons of interior decorating mags, fashion mags, a tech mag, investing mag, 3 health mags, the list goes on. I love mags!

And, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Linda and my shop is ebraunnagel.etsy.com. I sew, so I have handmade fabric and vinyl items in my shop.

I Linda - welcome to my other tribe. Yes, Linda is a seamstress - I have a little mini wallet she made that I use for my business cards, it's pretty made made really well.

I've never been to Seattle but from what I know of it, it's very artsy there - and I love big cities, plus its really pretty there. So my pick is Seattle - rain and all.

Question - tell use a funny or even embarrasing moment in your life.
I've got one to share - it's both funny and embarrasing. You know when you are a kid acting all "cool" and sometimes parents do something that embarrasses you? Welp, this one time, me, my brother and mom were at the grocery store. We were in this one isle with another lady that had A LOT of cheap and stinky perfume on. My mom says, "lady, you stink - that perfume is horid". Oh yes she did! I was so embarrased that I ran down the isle, yet laughing my ass off!! Oh, the things my mom would do.

                                  Funny/Embarrassing Moment in Life:

I remember there was a moment when two crackheads were walking by a tattoo-parlor- two guys outside smoking working there coverred in tattoos slightly staring out of the corner of their eyes awkward looks- one had his face tattooed- the one with his face tattooed said not noticing the irony "fuckin freaks"-

many people have copied it but i was THERE maaaaaaaann hehehe-

Hi Mike - welcome to the group. "how do you make your hair rock peoples socks?" What exactly do you mean by this? I've never heard of rockin peoples socks with my hair. I don't think about my hair at all - it just is. I did see this much older lady today with a terrible hair-do/hair-don't... she had it really short and bleached out - trying to look younger than she really is but instead, she looked like a baby chicken.

I don't drink alcohol but my hubby does and tied one on at a St. Patricks party - he really had one to many!! Anyway... question: Tell us about the last time your were drunk like a skunk.

I have two- embarassing moment, Well I went to Catholic grammar school and needless to say, was not an "in" kid- I was wearing those terrible boat shoes and one was unlaced, standing at the top of the steps separating the 6-8th grade wing from the little kids and I stepped on the lace and fell headfirst down the stairs, my jumper skirt went up over my head. My best friend, who was with me, started laughing. I was mortified.
Drunken moment? I had potato skins at some bar/restaurant and then came home and threw them up. I kept thinking to myself, each time a whole intact potato skin revealed itself, that I must have chewed better than that!

Next question- how'd you learn your most cherished skill?

                                          Sun, March 25, 2007 - 12:22 PM
I think my my cherished skill is my ability to cook and cook well. I don't need a book it is instinctive. I learned from my grandmother from being with her and from watching her just throw things together to create something wonderful. I learned from my mother who was the same way. No matter how little was in the house she always made a great dinner. Now I, too can create something out of nothing. I love to cook, I love to bake. It is something that ties me to two woman that I loved that while they are no longer here are always still with me.

(Thanks for bringing me such happy memories while answering this question)

What gives you the most inspiration for your craft?

The most inspiration for me is just having some alone time. I never seem to have artist block, I have the can't get a moment alone block. lol

I am color inspired, and mostly like complimentary colors. I also find blues and greens and purple very relaxing.

My question, did you craft as a child and what is your fondest memory of doing so?

When I hit the 'tweens', I became a little jewelry-making machine. My favorite is the Christmas bracelet I made on elastic staggering teeny weeny white kleenex flowers (remember those?!) and red cranberries. I used green food coloring to dye the edges of some of the flowers. My gal pals all made a big fuss over it. What fun!

I just bought some crazy expensive chain for myself - although I will have to put a clasp on. And I bought a 12 dollar bling-bling ring with a honkin cz stone surrounded by more cz stones - you can see this ring from a mile away.

Question: What's the dumbest thing you've fought over with the hubby?
                                                Mine would be, the dishes.

                                                  Threefold answer to prev. questions:

I am addicted to jewelry making as I became hooked upon taking my first class 13 yrs ago.

I've always had a knack for making things. I can recall the first time that I learned how to make pot-holders....I think I may have made hundreds of them. I've spent most of my life surrounded by creative types...ie. knitters, quilters, seamstresses, cooks, singers, musicians, etc.

I find painting to be most therapeutic, as I get lost in each brush stroke, and it takes my mind off the worldly garbage that exists.

The dumbest thing that I fight over with my hub. is....Why won't he craft with me?

Question: Where would you like to travel if you could pick any place in the world?

No great ideas on travel, just someplace not too warm with sea water, and sand. I want to retire to a beach and paint. Sounds corny, huh?

What do you think you will do when you retire? Will you still craft or live some place different?

When I retire I want to live in Oregon. I'm not even sure where, but I've wanted to for the last 15 or so years. My daughter lives in Seattle so I'll finally be close to her.

I'd love to still be designing/sewing. I even have a house design in mind that would be more of a crafting kingdom instead of a house, though on a small scale.

Who has been the single most important person in your life and why?

I'd have to say my maternal Grandmother. She died at the age of 91 about 20 years ago, so she was pretty old, even when I was young. She was French and my Grandfather was German and I can still remember them yelling (they were both very passionate people) at each other in their respective language.

My grandparents had 13 kids, so to say that she was a patient woman is an understatement. Her faith was also incredible; not the preachy kind of faith, but just that the universe will take care of us. She was an incredible gardener; I still cry when I think about her gardens. And she's the one that taught me what I call "intuitive cooking". I very seldom use recipes, just usually throw stuff together, but I think I have her ability to know what works and what doesn't.

What's your astrological sign and do you have the characteristics of that sign?

I'm a Capricorn and yes I do have traits - business oriented, causious, sensative... says Caps make good leaders. LOL.

Jane, I wanna see that garden! I love gardening, got 3 new rose bushes this year. :) I'm also German, I know that "passionate" German yelling. LOL.

To find a way to keep my goats in their enclosure.

Oh well; Saturday I relisted several pairs of earrings at my etsy shop, attempted to sooth my sister (major difficulties with her DH & son. . & daughter), went and purchased 2 pair of shorts for Ricky and then went to a retirement party for sis' FIL. Friday; I worked in the yard until it got too hot & began moving my furniture around so that I can clean the carpet on Monday.

That was about a month ago... I have a lot listed and haven't sold a thing. I don't have an answer for you on that one, Patty.

I love that it is very lightweight, but find I have to use a lot of moisturizer as my face is dry and the powder makes it look even drier. If you have oily skin at all, I bet it would be great. It is great to use during summer as it doesn't melt off.

                                                                                    Question: What's for dinner?
                                                                                    • Unsu...

I sorta married my high school sweet heart... I mean, I was still in high school when I met him but we didn't go to school together. I was 17 when I met Jimi.

Dinner? Yeah, I should eat something. I like Lean Cuisines.

Question, do you have a nickname, either current or childhood, you would like to share?
