They need to take Prestiq off the market as well. I was on this stuff for about three months before I finally realized what it was doing to me. It took running in to the side of an 18 wheeler, hitting a curb and busting two tires one time, hitting another curb another time, nearly running off the road numerous times, nearly rear ending cars at lights several times and losing my job before I realized what it was doing to me. I didn't realize this because my mental awareness was also effected by this drug and it wasn't until I lost my job and my boss made a comment that I realized it was Prestiq. Within a few days of not taking it I was myself again. I shiver when I think about how many close calls I had and stupid I was not to realize it sooner. I am furious with Wyeth and my doctor for prescribing this stuff to me. My doctor just happen to have samples and knowing that I was having a hard time financially gave it to me. At least that is how I feel. I hope that they put together a class action lawsuit against Prestiq as well if they haven't already and get this stuff off of the market!!!

Re: prestiq nearly killed my self and children
Sun, May 17, 2009 - 12:12 PMWOW that is one of the most extreme reactions (with the exception of psychosis and violence.) I have heard of. I wonder if adding des to venlafaxine (AKA effexor) could actually make Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) MORE dangerous then effexor?
It is important to understand that any time you take a sample, you are agreeing to be a guinea pig for the latest (and least tested drug). The drug industry only gives out samples of the newest drugs. The final safety testing, is done on the public in the first few years of marketing. Many nasty side effects did not come to light (or were not disclosed) until AFTER drugs have hit the market.
It is awful that you lost your job over this but I am glad it was not something worse.
