Acute eosinophilic pneumonia is a severe syndrome characterized by fever, lung infiltrates, blood eosinophilia and respiratory failure. We describe a case of acute eosinophilic pneumonia associated with clomipramine and sertraline. A 40-year-old woman was admitted to the emergency department with 37.9 °C and respiratory rate of 35 respirations per minute. Blood analysis showed PaO_2 = 57.6 mm Hg and HCO_3‐ = 21.7 mmol/l and 12.2 % eosinophils. Chest X-ray showed infiltrates in both lower lobes. She was taking clomipramine 25 mg bid for the last 4 weeks and sertraline 50 mg/day for the last week. Other causes of acute eosinophilic pneumonia such as parasitic and fungal infections or collagen diseases were discarded. Both antidepressant were stopped and the patient became afebrile and asymptomatic. A week later the patient was discharged from hospital. Physicians should be aware of this adverse antidepresant reaction which may result in severe pulmonary symptoms.

So sorry to hear you are ill. I wonder if Black elderberry extract would help? I have not gotten the flu or a cold for over a year since I found this.

12/12/2003 - The black elderberry extract Sambucol has been shown to reduce symptoms and shorten duration of flu, according to a new study to be published in The Journal of International Medical Research.
On average, flu patients given Sambucol recovered in 3.1 days compared to 7.1 days for those given placebo, showed the study. The remedy, manufactured from Sambucus nigra L. by Israel-based Razei Bar Industries, is currently available in the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Holland, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Israel, South Korea, Singapore and New Zealand.
Researchers at the University of Oslo School of Medicine in Norway enrolled 54 patients with type A flu and six with type B (29 females and 31 males, aged 18 to 54 years) in a double-blind, placebo-controlled study.
Study participants were randomly assigned to two groups, with one given Sambucol (1 tbsp) and the other a placebo, four times a day for five days. No significant side effects were reported.
A previous study published by The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that nearly 90 per cent of flu patients given Sambucol were completely free of symptoms within two to three days, as compared to at least six days with placebo.
Dr Madeleine Mumcuoglu, the virologist that developed the extract, said: "Flu viruses are covered by tiny protein spikes of hemagglutinin, which they use to attach to, and infect, healthy human cells. While working on my doctoral thesis we isolated key active substances within black elderberry that disarm hemagglutinin and thus stop the first step of viral invasion."
Black elderberry has not, however, been tested as a flu preventative, nor is it intended as a substitute for flu vaccine.
Get well soon.

Re: Pneumonia...
Mon, March 10, 2008 - 5:00 PMtry some high quality oregano oil and put a couple drops in your mouth, and then breathe it deep into your lungs. if you have access to a sauna then you can alleviate this quite quickly. also you must lie on your stomach. estd. 0r you could get a heat/vaporizer and breathe that deeply. the hotter the better. pneumonia can and will kill if the lungs fill too much... if do not have access to sauna, try real hot baths and dress for bed like you are in artic. most important is top of head, then feet, then hands.

Re: Pneumonia...
Sat, May 9, 2009 - 7:15 AMI am on my third pnuemonia since quitting ct I had a constant lung infection the last couple of years on effexor. There is a connection here I am sure of it and I wish they would do the needed research to find it and fix it.
I am starting to think that pharma is owning the media and the research teams all over the world. As how esle could they keep this quiet so long and continue to sell these fucking drugs.
I have had a horrid pain syndrome which I think is connected to these drugs and withdrawing from them so much pain it is rediculous. I started physio having tens and laser and while this is helping it seems to bring on faster waves of withdrawal which brings with it pnuemonia. I swear it is all connected. Like there are toxins stored in my body the physio is helping release them and once released they make me sick call me nuts you would not be the first. -

Re: Pneumonia...
Mon, May 11, 2009 - 10:15 AMYou are NOT nuts.
In the tabulations that follow, reported adverse events were classified using a standard
COSTART-based Dictionary terminology. The frequencies presented, therefore, represent the
proportion of the 4174 patients exposed to multiple doses of either formulation of venlafaxine
who experienced an event of the type cited on at least one occasion while receiving venlafaxine.
All reported events are included except those already listed in Table 1 and those events for which
a drug cause was remote. If the COSTART term for an event was so general as to be
uninformative, it was replaced with a more informative term. It is important to emphasize that,
although the events reported occurred during treatment with venlafaxine, they were not
necessarily caused by it.
Events are further categorized by body system and listed in order of decreasing frequency using
the following definitions: frequent adverse events are defined as those occurring on one or more
occasions in at least 1/100 patients; infrequent adverse events are those occurring in 1/100 to
1/1000 patients; rare events are those occurring in fewer than 1/1000 patients.
