As of today the effexor petition has received 20511 Signatures, such as the following
20503. Mary Ann York Taking Effexor with prescribed Tramadol has potentiating effects of both drugs. My doctor prescribed both drugs with out informing me that this was a possibility. The Tramadol was prescribed for pain from a previous left acetabular fracture. She prescibed the Effexor because I was having severe hot flashes and she refused to prescribe HRT for me. When the Effexor did not relieve the hot flashes, she doubled the dose, thus causing me to experience severe dehydration through profuse sweating. Thinking that the increased hot flashes and insomnia were also menopausal symptoms, I followed her advice. I could hardly function once the dose of Effexor was doubled. I had traveled alone by car to see my parents out of state. I could not remember driving through the state of Kentucky on my trip home. the profuse sweating, continued insomnia and nightmares wrecked my life. I started to research Effexor when I found out these crippling side effects, especially when taken with Tramadol. My doctor threw me under the bus!
Wyeth has certainly seen the petition. I have not heard of a response from them. But you would have to ask the petition's creator about that.
Wyeth has been more honest in their patient pamphlet then most drug makers. How ever this is not saying much since they ALL are dishonest and most patients never see the patient pamphlet, which has been moved all over the web when ever sites like ours post the link.
