Long Khaleegy Section in song

Hi all,

I've found a song that I really love and have almost finished with the choreo. But I'm stuck on the Khaleegy section. It has a 4-phrase Khaleegy section followed by an 8 count break and a repeat of the Khaleegy with a little more instrumentation. Any advice on what to do here? Would you cut it or dance it? Cutting it will make the song a little short for what I need.

Thanks!

    Dear Jami,
There are a number of ways to use the music.
If you know Khaliji, dance Khaliji. Keep in mind that if there are Gulf Arabs in your audience, they really think the Egyptian versions of Samri are a joke and they laugh at them.
If you do not know Khaliji, then use Egyptian movement to Khaliji rhythm and change the texture and size of the movement, and do not try to do much fancy layering. Keep your feet pretty close together, make the movement little and clipped. Also try to do stationary movement as opposed to trying to cover a lot of horizontal space. This will help you to achieve a "Khaliji" feeling and texture without actually having to learn a very complex dance in a short time if you do not already know it.
    I hope this helps.
    Regards,
    A"isha

Thanks A'isha. I'm thinking about doing Khaliji to the first section and following the other instrumentation on the second.

Please explain Samri...I don't know that I've come across that term.

      Thanks,

      Jami
