Am I getting old??

(you might have seen this posted in another tribe too)

I have died my hair for YEARS, many different shades, and recently grew out my own color just to give my hair a rest.

I am finding I really LIKE my haircolor- a medium/dark ash brown.

There is a part of me that thinks about having fun with hair color again but there is another part that is enjoying not having to dye it over and over and REALLY is liking how healthy it is.

Not really posing a question or anything, just bringing up the topic and sharing.

with age comes the wisedom and the comfort of our own bodies. You've just gotton comfortable and happy with your own skin. Thats a very good thing.

As far as I'm concerned age is a state of mind. Still being willing to try different things shows that you are still young at heart, and you are happy being who you are. As I am turning 50 in a few months, I have been reflecting on my past and looking towards the future, and I like what I see. I have a lot of raising hell and having fun yet to do, and I will never stop being young in sprit.

It's not an age thing at all, don't worry!
I've only dyed my hair now and then, and usually just partially to complement its natural colour. If you've been dying your hair for so long, maybe it's just another kind of colour experiment!
Besides- lovely, healthy, glossy hair looks so much better than brightly coloured hair in poor condition.

I don't really think age has anything to do with it.....(i agree that it's a state of mind).....you may just happen to like your hair today........next month maybe not so much......i went throught the experimental hair phase - and still do it sometimes (a crimson streak here & there) - sometimes i do also think you gotta give the hair a break - unless being bald becomes your thing - which is also cool! :-)
  • It's all good until it turns grey/white. It seems to look great on men, but sadly, as much as I never wanted to dye my hair... yikes the grey...uhhh made me look like hell, washed out and not in a good way.
    • im getting those cool silver edges above the ears that i admired so much as a kid, woohoo!! and its coming in SILVER NOT GREY!!!!! im giong to finally look DIGNIFIED!!!lol
      • 37 and still goin strong with the black hair dye.. hahahaha!! and have been since 18..
but I have taken breaks here and there and let it go back to brown..
or like when I shaved it for a few years and became a monk.....
but black hair just feels so RIGHT on me...
(and well, now that the grey is coming in too.......hahaha)
don't imagine I will ever outgrow it fully...
        • I just turned 34 in april and I recently within the past few days found my first gray hair sigh. But it looks kind of silver instead so hopefully my hair will not look so washed out when it gets more gray. Though I'll probably end up still dying it but right now I'm only going to bleach/dye part of my hair and let the rest be my natural dark brown. It doesn't have the dead black look that so many goths like but ultra black hair never had a fake look on me since I'm half korean. People thought it was my natural shade. I love the fake look and so sometimes I would get frustrated when it looked too natural. But my blonde streaks that I sometimes dye red or other colors help make my hair look like anime hair lol.

I don't think you're getting too old nor is it an age thing. Like you, I've dyed my hair a lot from shades of blonde to red to brown. I'm tempted to go pink, purple and blue but I can't. I might add streaks later on. Ever since I've grown out my hair, it is a glossy black color. Why would I want to dye over it when some people are dyeing their hair black? =) But it takes a while to truly like your natural shade.

I've been using hair dye since I was 14. I've been it al Blonde, Auburn, Flaming Red, Pink, Bleached out etc. In the past few years I've noticed that dye doesn't take very well in the front of my head. I have a lot of premature greys (Silver actually), I still dye it red every 3-4 weeks with root jobs to make it last longer. Eventually I will let it go when the dye doesn't take anymore. I refuse to grow up!
