Hope all are well.
I'm really into this exchange idea, sorry to be slow to get 'er started. Below is the log information for the FTP site courtesy of CPR (thank you). If you don't know how to FTP, follow this link for a starter course:
www.deskshare.com/Resources...nners.aspx
(not an endorsement - I didn't look at the products).
The log in is as follows:
Host address: musetrap.com
User Log in: collab
Password: together
Please feel free to post here if you have any comments. It would be great is people would report what was loaded by them in brief here as well. Perhaps we'll get more people interested via the enticement. We'll keep the log info public. If anything odd goes on...hrm??...we'll make it private if that's cool with all of you. Great, so, now I have to get my sh!+ together and put something up. Happy creating.

Re: The *Official* "Mad Collaboration" thread
Wed, January 30, 2008 - 3:11 PMshould we have a particular goal in mind? for example, what if we start with one of us making a drum loop, and we all give it a listen, and somebody can then say, ''hey, that inspires me to do blablabla'', and we all say, ''give 'er hell, Larry'', and Larry gives 'er hell, and maybe Larry runs out of hell, but Cockfaster McMachameatmanmunge has Reason as well, so Larry sends the esteemed Cockfaster the .rns file, etc etc etc.
otherwise, I just see this deteriorating into a sample share, everybody having a different goal in mind, and everybody doing their own thing with it, without any real collaboration. -

Re: The *Official* "Mad Collaboration" thread
Sun, February 3, 2008 - 9:30 AMSorry, tried to respond to this the other day, but Tribe took a crap on me mid-post.
Joe, I totally love the idea of an actual collaboration on a piece, but my concern is that there are so many different and varying tastes amongst the group that it would be very hard to get a cohesive track out of it, I fear. that's why I like the samples idea better. In no way does this mean we cannot collaborate on a track. I'd be happy as a clam to. But i wanted everyone to get some sort of use out of this exchange, even the people who don't play well with others. If we, along the way, find some similar tastes, we can work more directly on something. -

hey i can remix whatever you guys come up with! oh wait, that's kinda what you're decrying isn't it joe? whoops.
i agree w/saro--it's kinda difficult to do a *true* collab with so many different TYPES of chefs in here... i mean, it could be a very interesting soup or it could be a great idea that just looks like soup and tastes like mush, you never know. -

Re: The *Official* "Mad Collaboration" thread
Sun, February 3, 2008 - 9:56 PMeither way, whatever direction this takes, it will be cool. I just thought a collective effort on one, unified track could be really cool, for the very reason that everyone here is so wildly different. -
