Eleggua Laroye

Great tribe and I had to sign up inorder to learn how to serve my Eleggua Laroye (I received my Warriors this year).

My questions are as follows;

1. How do I salute Him? is it by touching my fingertips to the clay bowl that contains his head, then touching my forehead and kissing it?

2. Is the next step to crouch, and then knock three times, light candle and say my prayers followed by offerings?

Thank you

the elder that gave you the warriors-- why didn't they teach you? every house and lineage has a different perspective on how to salute ocha so....the elder you received from which should have been your godparent/teacher should have told you the way THEY do it in THAT tradition....nom disrespect meant, i'm just amazed at alot of people being given orisha and not taught how to care for them. the elders don't teach the same like they used to. but again, no disrespect to you or your elder that gave you your warriors.

Carol please refer to the post of CC on October 26, 2020 for the following way to open your prayers to Eleggua:

We open each ceremony with homage to Elegua.

We offer a libation of water, three drops of water

and say a simple prayer to him:

      "Omi Tutu, Ana Tutu,

      Tutu Ile,

      Tutu Laroye"

My padrino taught me those words when saluting Eleggua

"We offer a libation of water, three drops of water

and say a simple prayer to him:

        "Omi Tutu, Ana Tutu,

        Tutu Ile,

        Tutu Laroye"

        What do they mean?

The word tutu is to say refresh or cool...

          Omi tutu-water refresh/cool
          Ana tutu- refresho/cool roads
          Tutu Ile- refresh/cool (my)home
Tutu Laroye- Refresh/cool Eshu (in his manifestation of Eshu Laroye)

Theres a few variations of this prayer as far as spelling and wording is concerned. But more or less your both trying to cool Eshu and your home, paths, and any other area where Eshu might lend his assistance. Maferefun Eshu!

      Greetings,

When I received my warriors I was told that I can find a lot of information on the internet. I was given very little information about how to care for my warriors. most of what I learned WAS off the internet from different groups similar to this one... Then name of my Eshu I can't find any information on.... except may for or five words on it... which is not helping me and I am still lost as to who my Eshu is.

      Peace and Blessings

Carol, your experience is similar to many whose godfathers are either too busy, expect you to know or who simply don't care. I have had my warriors for four years and I don't know myself, so don't feel bad just do what you feel is right.

I strongly suggest you learn how to throw obi to your warriors, especially eshu,or ellegua,so that he will keep the path(s) clear and correct,no disrespect i would do anything i feel i doing that maybe not be acceptable to ellegua or eshu,or laroye, they can be great trickers and can decieve if we don't approah them correctly,we want the best so we need to learn how to communicate with them so we get whatever straight from the horse's mouth,ALAFIA.

This is a great topic! Would the prayers listed in this topic be okay to be used for Esu Laroye? As opposed to Elegua Laroye?

Are all paths of eshu eleggua greeted the same way? If there are 256 variations of eshu eleggua + ad inifitum because eshu eleggua manifests in infinite ways. Is the way we salute him different. Eshu Eleggua manifest through many different and natural pheonomena. Such as Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Deat, Life, would he be saluted with respect to the forces that he works with?

I think everybody here is focusing too much on exactly how to talk to eleggua.. Talk to him from your heart. Mean what you say. The only "Special Salutation" i do is.. Eleggua, aqui esta tu hija ____________ pidiendote tu bendicion... And I just go on from there.. Eleggua has ALWAYS come through for me even before I received him. Its so crazy but this is why I adore this religion. Stop focusing on the steps on how to salute eleggua and just talk to him.. This is when they listen most. It is not a rehearsal or a play or whatever, just talk to him. Simple as that. And I remember a thread about whether we should speak in lucumi vs. English/Spanish. Speak whatever language you speak best. Personally, I speak to my Eleggua in Spanglish. Lol My eleggua always shows results from one day to the next! And my path is Alaguana.

    Maferefun Eleggua
    Maferefun Aggayu
    Maferefun la Ocha!!
