1. Sun Tunnels (4 hour drive each way)
2. The Spiral Jetty.. (2 Hour Drive)
3. A small dry lake bed which is just north of Wendover. (2.5 Hours drive.) This is a great location to do a burn and could easily accomadate about 100 people.
4. The desert on the West Side of Utah Lake.. (1 hour)
Anyway.. I would love to do either a campout or evening party the weekend of the Big Burn since I won't be in BRC this year.. A lot depends on just how far people are willing to travel.. The Sun Tunnels would be the best location in my mind, but that involves a rather extensive commitment to drive out there and back.. Does anyone else have some thoughts on a potential location.. -

Enough lead notice for everyone, enough time after to get ready for BM. That way those going to BM can have a hand in helping, too...

Mon, July 28, 2008 - 3:32 PMOK.. I talked to the Church of Elemental Awareness folks yesterday, and they are interested in hosting a 'No Burner Left Behind' party over Labor day weekend. They have the deck and the sound system along with a generator. Right now we are just looking for a location. If anyone has ideas for a location or wants to get involved give me a holler. I'll be camping the next 4 days, so I'll be offline until next weekend.

I haven’t been able to find the right location for the Burn Night camp out referenced in my previous emails. With the large number of people who generally go camping every Labor Day weekend I was not able to find the right kind of site - within about 1 hour drive of Salt Lake - where we could be ensured of some privacy. Also many folks have expressed an interest in doing something locally rather than out in the West Utah Desert. As a result I’m cancelling our Aug 30th Burn night campout. We’ll be having a Burner gathering in Liberty Park the evening of the burn rather than any sort of group camping trip. This will likely be something along the same lines of what has been taking place the last couple of years at Liberty Park over Labor Day weekend. Keep an eye out for details on the Liberty Park ‘mini-burn’ which should be posted to the list shortly.
Sorry I couldn’t pull this one together folks, but it just wasn’t meant to be.
