Placed an order for 30 yards of 3 different fabrics which didn't ship for 6 business days. Now, on their FAQs they say it takes 2-7 biz days to ship, but please, in this day and age, that's stupid. Ordered some buttons from the UK and they came the day the Fashion Fabrics Club email got to me saying they'd just shipped and that it would take another 7 days to reach me. When I got the order, it was only 2 of the 3 fabrics - no explanation on the packing slip why the third, one I need for a client, was missing. When I called, she said that in the FAQs it explains how the client is supposed to tell them if the client wants to be notified when a fabric is out of stock. What?! Are you kidding me?!!! So, two weeks later I'm still short 10 yards of wool gabardine when I could have headed out to JoAnn's.
I know their prices are good, but there are too many other brick-and-morter and online resources for that kind of business practice. Please boycott them if you can! Thanks.

Re: Boycott Fashion Fabrics Club
Thu, August 27, 2009 - 10:02 AMThat's pretty cheesy of them. I'm sure they could manage decent customer service the way other businesses do, if they really wanted to.

Re: Boycott Fashion Fabrics Club
Thu, August 27, 2009 - 10:29 AMI would like to add that their fabric content is often incorrect. I ordered several swatches that purported to be 100% wool, and most (when I tested them) turned out to be blends. -

Re: Boycott Fashion Fabrics Club
Thu, August 27, 2009 - 1:34 PMThat could be dangerous for people with fiber allergies. I have a sister who is allergic to acrylic, and I'm allergic to polyester. If they don't admit it's in there, I could end up wearing itchy, rash-inducing clothes. -

Re: Boycott Fashion Fabrics Club
Fri, August 28, 2009 - 9:21 AMYup. Not sure what is in my "100% wool" fabric from FFC, but it ain't 100% wool. When burned it makes black charcoal and smells like burning wood. At least it doesn't seem to be polyester.

Re: Boycott Fashion Fabrics Club
Thu, August 27, 2009 - 2:56 PMThe saga continues...I'm looking for black wool gabardine. Now. In summer. Good luck! Their $5/yrd blk wl gab is no longer available, duh, so now that I've found nothing less than $10/yrd, I'm back to them. Bugger. Aren't Fashion Fabrics Club and Denver Fabrics in cahoots? Took a look at Denver's FAQs and they are exactly the same as FFC. So, you can get expedited shipping - that is, you pay them $2 for them to move their asses quicker and they'll press the button for UPS rather than USPS or FedEx and then you have to wait for an emailed shipping estimate. Whatever, dude. HAD to order from them now, but gonna never ever ever in my natural born days do it again. Blight. -

Thu, August 27, 2009 - 8:27 PMIf that fails, message Les Fabriques of Charlottesville, Va. I am pretty certain their wool is on wicked "Get out of the damn store it's summer" sale.

Re: Boycott Fashion Fabrics Club
Thu, August 27, 2009 - 11:49 PMWhen Denver Fabrics decided to get out of the online side of things they sold the biz to FFC. So they are exactly the same site & materials, just different web addresses & names to generate more click traffic & business. I haven't bought from Denver Fabrics since the switch and have never bough from FFC as you're not the only one to complain about them.

Fri, August 28, 2009 - 10:04 AMHave you tried the "gypsycaravancoop" Yahoo group? Their prices look good, they have swatches to see online (with fiber content noted), etc. -

Re: Boycott Fashion Fabrics Club
Thu, September 3, 2009 - 9:58 AMI get all of my wool from B Black and Sons in LA. They are great to work with and will give you a break in price on 10 yards or more of fabric. I believe I paid $10.00 a yard for my wool gaberdine.

Re: Boycott Fashion Fabrics Club
Thu, September 3, 2009 - 10:24 AMWell, drats. I felt like I had to order from FFC again because they had the best price ($10 as opposed to $12 or so from BB&S...ok, not much of a difference, but I have a client on a severe budget). So, ordered last Wed - they only called me TODAY to tell me what I had ordered to replace the out of stock order was ALSO out of stock. She picked something comperable to send. So, it took them SEVEN goddamn days to call me (in my note I had asked them to email me) with the out-of-stock message. My bad - should have gone with the more expensive BB&S. Live and totally learn.
