my dress form fell apart, hey it was over 50 years old....
i can't afford another dress form right now. i was looking a the old post and in the thread topic for directions to make a corset from duct tape, which i have done successfully, there were replies about making a dress form from your body with tape and sometimes stuffing.

could some when tell me, step by step, how this is done. including how you'd attach a stand

i am open to different techniques, using different tape or other techniques (non tape) to constructing a dress form.

i am constructing more costuming of late then i have before and this lack of a dress form i maddening!

thank you, for your help and ideas

The best instructions on how to make a brown paper tape dress form is in an old issue of Sew News magazine, by Connie Crawford, complete with stand. No stuffing required. I had her instructions from a workshop I took with her (nice lady), and she has it in her big book on pattern drafting.

I would link to it, but it seems that Sew News has removed the old articles they used to have, and I didn't save off a copy (poot!) so I can't direct you to the info. I have the magazine article, but the online article had more pics. After making a duct tape double (which has to be stuffed), and a brown paper tape form (which can sorta stand alone), I prefer the latter for cheap dress forms.

However, nowadays I really really really LOVE having a squishable pinnable dress form made of foam. I bought a Uniquely You dress form to use while I lose weight, and there is a custom dress form you can make of yourself called the My Twin dress form.

I would recommend going with one of those two foam forms.
