There's this one party happening at the end of August I think...it's some kind of huge desert party...I heard it happens every year...but that could be just some vicious rumor...

Sounds very inviting -- We dig your hubby and we'd love to get to know you two and all the other Eonites a little better -- But me dear mum will be in town that weekend, and she's not that much fun...

And I just found out that Phish is Aug. 5th, not Aug. 30th like I thought, so our social calendar is actually fine until probably mid-September.

Definitely looking forward to the next event. Sadly, between moving back to SD from Las Vegas and many other obligations prevented us from going to Elysium but I'm definitely interested in the nest gathering!!!

<<I'm definitely interested in the nest gathering!!! >>

I searched Nest Gathering and found the world's biggest tickling convention. In Philly. Is that the event you're referring to?

I also work in schools, and am SOOO grateful to live in Los Angeles: LAUSD always starts the Wednesday AFTER Labor Day, which not only allows me to go to the Burn, it allows for a day of recovery when I get home!

You guys should move up here!

Why is it our "Leaders" are SO against anything that doesn't require a cover charge and permits?

Because they have no appreciation of real people's lives. Real people smoke. Real people drink. Real people spin fire. Real people like to do these things someplace besides their living rooms.

Our "Leaders" only recognize money and that which is liable to net more of it. Our freedoms are being quashed because theiy've been defined as "Costs" by those who recognize nothing else.

Please STOP electing out of touch fuckheads to office. San Diego, nay, the whole country needs a break. The next politician I see who cares about the Constitution as a whole document will be the first.

The answer is rather simple, Sasquatch... $$$$$

You see, it's all about getting their cut. Especially in these times where governments are falling into bankruptcy, getting their piece of the pie is even more important. I learned this real quick Living in Las Vegas. It wasn't the idea of all-night partying that got the government all riled up, it was that you didn't pay extra for "such-and-such" permit or you don't have porta-potties (from a select list of vendors) or you don't have at least "x"-amount of trained security (who all had to pay into their certs) per "x"-number of people. Hell, I even had to have the local police in on it with certain venues by having one of their "off-duty" guys as a security guard.

It's all about business on a much more corrupt nature. Why is it that if I pulled my dirtbike and ATV to some random spot in the desert, I can have a great time all weekend. But if I tow out a sound system and a few friends to dance, I've got BLM on my ass about permits? Because, despite the intent of gathering, it is a gathering. Freedom is not, by any means, free. There's a price to pay. It's not right, but it is how it is.
