Punk Raqs and Tribal Rendezvous

Well, I just sent in my apps this week for both Punk Raqs (June 29) and Tribal Rendezvous (July.....crud, I think it's the weekend of the 24th lol...my brain just shut down!)

I will only have small areas in both of them (not rich yet, but my goal is to reach Miss Melodia's commerciial kneecaps LOL!), but I will be bringing many many Triple Chanty skirts, as well as some select chainmaille items, my panel belts, my crochet tassle and fringe belts, and my hair falls. If there are things that you think I should definately bring to one (or both) of these events, let me know!!! :D

Nephertiti Necklace

I need to stay away from bead and craft stores...I go in for one thing, and end up seeing all these components that I can't put back. These wire wrapped discs were among my latest bits. They made me think of the jewelry that Hollywood likes to put on Egyptian queens...so ta-da!

Still alive...barely!

WHEW!

Well, I am still here! I have over 150 Triple Chanty Convertible Skirts that are going to be swooping in to the Punk Raqs event next Sunday!!!! I still have about 40 left to sew hooks and eyes on, but there are loads to choose from :D

Also, a new belt has been posted. After the custom Aquarius belt, I realized that cowries + belt = smashing!!!! So now there is a gorgeous belt up and ready for you to all drool over it ;)

$7 donation ~ This event is a Benefit for the Mara Triangle in the Masai Mara animal conserve in Africa, where post-election violence has seen a collapse in tourism due to political turmoil. The Mara Conservancy, a non-profit, was entirely dependent upon park entrance fees paid by visitors to manage the Mara Triangle, and since the New Year they've had to suffer severe cutbacks in critical park operations. Working on a reduced budget has already had an impact on their effectiveness, and May was tthe first month since January that they've started with no money to carry on.

Last month, rangers caught 6 poachers who had killed 37 Thomson Gazelles, and last month of ot heir rangers was shot and seriously injured when chasing cattle rustlers. I have actually made a few chanties out of a few of the materials (those of you at Tribal Caravan had a chance to grab one), but I haven't done them all, and I have a lot of material here. SO if you want a certain size made out of a certain material, let me know soon so that I make sure to cut the right amount of each style!

The Lake Casitas Ren Faire is this weekend, and guess who is going to be there!!!

Yep, moi! All of my groovy stuff and I are taking the daunting hike up to Ojai (wow, 30 miles!!!) and will be set up in our booth all weekend! If you're in the area, this is a great little fair. Very family oriented, very fun, and with a lot of great vendors and entertainment (if the double crown dancers guild is there, I might be part of the entertainment myself!). I just thought I'd let you all know that the reason for my silence (aside from finally catching that cold that went around 4 months ago...*sigh*) isn't that I don't love you all! I have been working my lil fingers to the bone getting the Chanty Skirts ready!!!!

Micro Byzantine bracelet

The newest installment in the photo album! You might notice that this bracelet is going for a bit more then my normal stuff. This is because the bracelet is made from 24guage rings that measure only 1/16th of an inch across. The colored rings are anodized niobium, a precious metal, and stainless steel. The blue and purple of the niobium blend so well, it looks like the bracelet is shaded! The bracelet took more then 8 hours to construct, and is deceptively delicate-feeling.

Wanna see the Enchantress perform?

OK then!

I just thought I'd let you know where I'd be in the next little while, wiggling around like a maniac!

For those of you in the Ventura area, on March 12 (that's next Wed), myself and my student troupe, the Molecular Midriffs, will be performing at Macy's (yes, Macy's) in the oaks Mall. We will be in the Men's store, on the second floor where all the "cool" clothes are kept....the young men's department lol. We will be performing at 8:30, and about 9:00, and wandering around dancing in between.

On March 22, I will be at the Epica hafla mentioned in the raffle thread. At the very least, I'll be MCing :)

On April 25 I will be dancing at the TRIBAL CARAVAN PRE-PARTY at Froggys!!! Woooohoo, I'm so excited!
April 26th my student troupe will be performing at the TC main event....and boy-O do we have a great routine kicked up for you all!!!! If you miss it, you're crazy!

Vintage Rose

OK, ok, technically there is nothing vintage about this lol. The beads are new, and the rings are relatively new :) But it had such an old-time, classic feel to it when I got done!

It's made from copper and black AA, with gorgeous beads. The beads have a glittering copper-toned thread through them that absolutely sparkles when light hits it, and these dainty little "flowers" that look like roses to me :)

Again, pictures just don't do it justice!

OK I named this one in honor of my hubby. I put the necklace on, and turned to him to ask what he thought of it. He just got his ham radio license, and he had just finished building a big old copper antenna, so took one look at this copper confection and said: Wow, that looks like my antenna! Do you think I could get reception with that?

Yes, I married him on purpose lol.

So, made from copper and black shell dangly bits, and dedicated to my crazy hubby :)

This one is so absolutely beautiful IRL...it is a combination of gold and bronze colored anodized aluminum, and copper rings, with a beautiful gold-toned shell pendant. I looked through a pile of these pendants, and they were almost all that pearly silver-black color....then I saw this one. I squeaked in the middle of the store lol. It is so beautiful and rich, the pictures really don't do it justice....and check out the cool weave! I don't know if I made this one up first, or if someone else has done it, but it's the only one I have seen like it hehehehe :D

These are my zig-zag twins! They are made from gorgeous bright and anodized aluminum, in a fun, intricate zig-zag pattern. I had so much fun making the first one, I made a second :D hehehe!

Ice Falls

Woo ha!

I got home from a VERY exciting night out (one word: WHISKEY!) to find a package on my bed!

Sweeney Mitts!!!! First pair freeeeeeeee!!!! (if you win the contest that is!)

So, I went out to see Sweeney Todd when it came out. All through the movie, I noticed that Johnny Depp was sporting what looked like knitted mitts. I love the look of tehse, but the grey ones he wore in the movie were lacking a certain...je ne sais qui lol! So I went home and proceded to have lots of fun with colors and patterns and designs. I made many many mitts, and decided to name them Sweeney Mitts, as a nod to my inspiration!

They are all hand crocheted by moi and all one of a kind, just like everything else in this crazy place! They come in a variety of styles and colors and patterns and textures, and are all SO comfy!!!

Now for the good part! I am giving one pair away for free!!!!!

I need at least 7 entrants for this contest, so let me know by responding to this thread with:

"Care for a shave?"

I'm closing the entrance down in 2 days (that will be Friday at 4pm PST), and will take as many as want to enter....but there have to be AT LEAST 7, so get your friends to come over and enter!!!!

Femaillers 2008 calendar!

This calendar has a history of being a good way to give to charity (this year the money is going to the Petfinder Foundation, helping to find homes for lost animals and providing support for the organizations that contribute to taking care of these poor little pets.), as well as an amazingly unique and beautiful item to have in your home or office.

Custom Silk yarn tassle belt

This one I made from an entire skein of silk yarn. The silk is recycled silk that was hand-made ito yarn in Nepal and it is GORGEOUS!!!! There are so many colors blended into it, the pictures just do NOT do it justice. I originally made this one with the intent to sell it, but I absolutely fell in love with it, so I'm keeping it! Luckily I got more silk yarn, and will be making mor e silky heaven for your hips in the near future!!!!

Blue and purple diamond tassle belt

There is a very intricate, very lovely design crocheted into this one. The blue and purple keep the tones cool, and the black border finishes it off nicely. Add to that 10 swingy tassles, and you have got yourself some belt heaven!!!!
Base is 33" and ties are 25 inches each

Twisted Filigree

Every year I put together a calendar with the female members of one of my mailling communities. This is going to be the focal point for my picture for the calendar. It is made from pieces that Yasemine (from Tribal Bazaar) gave me for my birthday. The design makes it lie flat against the shoulders/chest. I really liked how this one turned out, and I am going to make more for the general public :)

Wow, sometimes it feels like I don't get anything done. I am so sorry to have kept you gals waiting, but here they are, pictures of the new FLIRT!s! There are some of you out there who got them before I got pictures (it really does take a lot of time to photograph them all lol!) so post pics if you feel like it :)

Otherwise, here's the deal. The FLIRT!s are made one-size-fits-most. They will fit from about a size 4 to a size 22 (which is the biggest sized goddess to let me knoe how they fit lol). The elastic is a gentle one, so it doesn't do a big huge muffin top thing to you once you put it on. Each FLIRT! has 4 flowing points, and looks spectacular when you spin in it!

I wear mine over my Melos, over my Geisha Moth pants, over jeans (the few times I have worn jeans lately lol), and over my skirt during a few performances. They really are pretty versatile! They give really good coverage for those of us who are a little wary of letting our tushes hang out, even if they are covered by Melo- or Geisha-goodness, but they are flirty enough to keep that sassy personality that we all love!

FLIRT!s are each $40. Most of them are one-of-a-kind, but there are a few of the fabrics that I had more of, so there are more then one available. As long as they don't have a "Sold Out" note next to their names in the gallery, they're ready for you to take home!

OK for all of you out there who have been wondering, Hey! Why haven't you made any new corset-style belts? Well, it takes a lot of time, and I finally got a BIG OL BUNCH done for you! There are some great new ones, and I found some spectacular new fabrics! INCLUDING SPARKLY RED SPIDER FABRIC!!!!!! yes, all you Marjha-nabes, red sparkly spiders on white webs on a black background. Perfect for anyone who worships the spider queen (like I do :D). There are also some beautiful brocade and silky fabrics, as well as some simpler, yet still gorgeous solids! All one of a kind (mainly because I don't buy that much material and fringe at once, so I only have enough for one lol!), all hand made by moi! I put all the love I have into these things, and it takes me weeks to do a batch like this! Several of them went to the lovely ladies on the Arabian Nights at Sea cruise before I could even get pictures of them (and if you ladies have the opportunity and feel like sharing, please post pics!!!), but there are still many for you to ogle and drool over!

The new belts are all $100 each. Get them while the getting is good! :D

Sterling and niobium necklace set

For those of you who are going: Sterling and what-now???? Niobium is a precious metal that can be anodized into some really fun colors. There are a dusty rose and a dusty blue color in this set of necklace and earrings. REALLY fun set, very unique!

Half Persian sheet necklace

Darkness Embraced

OK I totally love this one. The centerpiece is a filigreed cage. Inside it, I put a black diamond shaped ornament. The byzantine and 2-2 chains are accented with Swarovski crystal and Czech glass beadwork.

Intricate Aura

This necklace is a new weave for me. It's a deviation of the Aura weave (hence the name) that I played around with a tad. The beads are vintage, surrounded by rich red Swarovski crystals.

Indigo stretch cuff bracelets

Yes, I said stretch. The purple rings are anodized aluminum, and the black ones are EPDM, a stretchy kind of rubber rings. They don't need clasps, and will stretch over most wrists! You can get one for $30, or get the pair for $55!

Snowflake Skies choker

This choker has a really SPARKLY centerpiece. It is a bouquet of flowers set with Swarovski crystal bits that just shine like crazy. The shape reminded me of a snowflake, and I absolutely loved it. The blue faceted crystal globes sparkle just as much, and offset the large pendant.

Forget Me Not necklace

This necklace was immediately one of my favorites. purple anodized aluminum and curb chain surround the red crystal cubes that match the pressed flower in the centerpiece perfectly. The chains and the design all draw the attention to the beautiful pendant. I don't know what it was about the pendant, but I REALLY love the combination of purple and red!

Persian Starlight necklace
