Hi Everyone,

I am new to this site and this is my first post. I have had this disease my whole life and like many of you I have been switching between meds my whole life in an attempt to find one that can help with the pain. I am 25 now and feel like I am at the point where the meds just aren't working anymore. I was wondering if anyone has any good tips for helping to manage pain without the use of medication. Any info would be greatly appreciated as it is starting to get cold and damp again.

Thanks for the help,
Adam

    Hey Adam,

My name is Lauren, I am 23 and live in Sydney, Australia. Welcome to tribe - It's great to meet you!
I recently posted a general topic on alternate/natural pain management techniques for others to view and contribute too (there is another personal blog on this topic on my profile). It includes ideas such as heat and massage therapies, etc.

The other suggestion I can give you is to become "official friends" with our other CED tribe members, as you can then gain access to their private CED Questionaires - these outline every medication and treatment (both the positive and negative ones) our members have tried or experienced in the past. I hope this helps you. :o)
I hope your pain eases soon.
    Take care mate,
    Loz

Hello Adam, nice to meet you. High doses of vitamin d3( carlson labs, available on the net) at least 4000 iu per day with calcium 2000/ 2400 iu per day is of some help to me. If you haven't used opiates yet. You might want to talk to your doctor about them. At first I used Tramadol/ultram 800 mg's per day then when that wasn't that effective any longer. I started to using higher levels of other morphines like Fentanyl with the Tramadol. I can't use steroids because I also have bone thinning in some areas of my spine. However they seem to help some people for a while anyway. Whatever you do you should first discuse it with your dotor if possible. Good luck, Blaise

In response to Balise's message.. I was put on a vitamin D and Calcium supplement for a while, but my doctors neglected to keep regulat checks on my blood levels and I got to a point where it actually began calcifying in my muscles and that was really painful! Also, with respect to the Tramadol.. a great med for pain relief and it helped me a lot, but like with all meds I became tolerant to it and it became less and less effective! Tramadol should NOT be stopped suddenly, but be gradually reduced as it can - and has - caused severe withdrawal symptoms.
Just be aware of all the possible side effects of any drugs you take and make sure your doctors dont send you packing with a bunch of pills and never check on you!!
Ok, rant over! lol Have a nice day! xx
