Environmental Economics

public - created 02/05/08
This tribe is dedicated to exploring and furthering economics that take into account environmental considerations, that include natural resources such as air, water, wildlife, and living ecosystems when calculating the profitability of any venture. We live in an era in which major changes are taking place due to environmental imbalance from traditional economic activites. Each one of us has personal power, and this doesn't have to be channeled into angry or negative protests. What can we do to make change happen for the good of the earth and all life? One solution can be found in the idea of win-win business, making a living without destroying living systems. Perhaps there's more to the idea of environmental economics than I've started us out with. Please, share your thoughts and ideas. Together we ARE making a difference.

Here are just a few interesting sites (please add to this list):

"Just a small sample of topics addressed by HEEP Faculty Fellows would include such pressing issues as: global climate change, the use of incentive-based or market-based instruments for pollution control, new methods of valuing risk reduction, the relationship between globalization and the environment, the role of environmental considerations in business decision making, and the intersection of economic development and environmental protection."
