go to www.plantabillion.org. The Nature Conservancy is running a program now to reforest the Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil and they are starting off planting a billion native trees that are being grown by locals and planted by locals. For a dollar per tree you can buy a carbon credit of sorts. I bought ten yesterday and plan to buy more - and while we are here complaining about the health of the planet and being educated on all the scams and problems - we should contribute to the solution. For ourselves, and for future generations.

Tue, April 29, 2008 - 3:52 PMI agree that complaining won't get anything done. A great start but there is more to be done. Can we walk or use mass transit instead of driving? Plants in our backyards instead of just lawns? Heat with solar? Etc. -

I've got a small veggie container garden going - but I've been reading a lot of Wendell Berry lately. And his mantra is Think Little - so you start with the little things to fix in your own paradigm, and then show others how it works. Its a matter of being the change you wish the world to become.
