Yo Ho ~! Plastic Bags Have Got To Go
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 8:12 AMWe bought twelve of those goofy green colored linen bags that the Grocery store sells for you to pack your groceries in.
They were like 98-Cents each. What I didn't know was that when you use them you get money back ( off the purchase). It adds up and the bags pay for themselves.
I bought them because I prefer to carry as many groceries in as possible in each trip from the car. So for me it was all about convenience.
They are ooodles stronger than paper or plastic and you can carry a whole shit load of 'em at once all packed to the gills.
I like them.
However when the cute little girl bagger at the grocery line expresses approval for my choice of a "green" environmentally conscious bag I tell her that I got 'em only 'cause they are stronger and carry more without ripping and that the day I bought 'em I had to balance things out and dump my engine oil in a reservoir just to make myself "feel" OK about it.
And then I grind her pretty little uninformed face in the dirt once more when tell her that every damn time someone says anything about the freaking environment to me I gotta go dump some oil in a reservoir or river again and I'll be doing it again today.

I was among that lot who were directly and personally responsible for the genocide of millions , the countless millions more whose families were broken by pogroms and murder, the countless millions who were slaughtered in Pol Pot's death camps, the millions of refugees who were never able to return to their homes.
I did that. It is a heavy burden once one realizes that but for one's own actions it might have all ended differently - maybe for the better.

Because I was part of the reason the USA abandoned our commitment there, creating a sudden imbalance of power which was the direct cause of all the millions of deaths, the millions of refugees, the genocide and pogroms.
