The city of Madrid soon plans to add a striking new structure that will “climatically transform” its urban architecture. Designed by Urban Ecosystems, the Air Tree pavilion is to be built from recycled materials and will be 100% energy self-sufficient. Using photovoltaic cells, the Air Tree produces a substantial amount of energy, which is then sold back to the local electric companies, the profits being used for maintenance of the structure. The second byproduct is of course oxygen - hence the name ‘Air Tree’!
etc etc. . .

Re: Air Tree Produces Oxygen and Electricity!!!
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 7:53 AMI think that this would be a perfect centerpiece for urban and suburban roundabouts. inside is a cool and restful place for people to gather, surrounded by oxygen cleaning and producing plants and topped by pv panels. . .what a great idea.
Homeless people would love it. . .which is okay with me! -

Re: Air Tree Produces Oxygen and Electricity!!!
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 2:17 PMThis could be fabulous in Central and Southern LA. In those poorer areas, its almost mile after mile of concrete and asphalt. This could be good on a school playground..., or if they could plant a few next to the giant freeways we have here to absorb more carbon...
