does anyone know the recipe for this oil?
This formula is noted for its ability to loosen tight muscles and relieve pain due to stiffness, sprains or cramps.
i do some martial arts and have found my legs with tight muscles alot after traing, looking for some relief is this oil a good one
was thinking of making some dit da jow as well.

Re: chinese muscle oil
Sun, May 11, 2008 - 4:00 PMYou have many choices, but the basic ingredient for Chinese oil is camphor.- after that it varies. I like ginger, and cloves, you could macerate these herbs or make compresses tied up in a bolus bag compress with fresh herbs. I use this a lot with sports people, Eucalyptus, Thyme, turmeric, Lavender, Cyprus and the mint families are also valuable., depending on whether there is inflammation or not. I find the Chinese oils rather hot for most work outs. Sometimes a cooling mixture is needed. I really like basil leaves, cabbage poultices ( amazing) and lavender which can swing either way ( hot or cold) If you find a good recipe let us know! -

now finding arnica can be quite tricky here in australia they actually removed all arnica creams from the shelves a few years bakc for some reason. -

Re: chinese muscle oil
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 8:26 PMThere are alot of variations with the chinese medicated muscle oils, but a recipe i developed, based on a popular oil, is :
powder and soak fresh ground evodia fruit and dragons blood resin in sesame oil (half the volume of container should be the powder) warm this in a water bath, (sealed jar)and shake, 1x a day, for two weeks or so.
to about 4 oz. of oil, add, (approximately):
cinnamon oil (bud, not bark) approx. 1/3 oz.
myrrh oil 1/2 oz
wintergreen, or mint oil 1/4 oz.
camphor, either plain or borneol 2-3 tablespoons
menthol crystal 1-2 tablespoons
fennel seed oil 1/4 to 1/3 oz.
thyme oil 1/4 oz.
cedar, juniper or cypress oil 1/4 to 1/2
rosemary oil 1/4 to 1/2 oz.
i make it up without measuring, cause i have made it so many times, so you may adjust the porportions to what suits you
you can also, try soaking evodia and aloewood in ethanol, strain when strong, and add cinnamon oil, myrrh oil, camphor and menthol, and put in a spray bottle. this is good for fast action, and less of a greasy feel. -

Re: chinese muscle oil
Tue, May 13, 2008 - 4:35 PMit was fun. we used to have a body oil blend, that used almost a tablespoons worth of pure orange oil in it. some people bought it, cause it was strong enouph to come off as a light perfume. mmm same with lavendar.
