Hey there! A friend of mine on LiveJournal posted a link to an interesting blog written by a tribal dancer from the Baltimore/DC area. Her most recent post is about what makes tribal dance actually tribal. JJ will be amused to note that she specifically says the pop & lock stuff is *not* (it's from breakdance) & I laughed when she said ATS dancers should be smiling, as Vik always tells us that in class. :-D

Re: Cool Tribal Dance Blog
Tue, April 15, 2008 - 1:57 PMGreat article... I really enjoyed that read. I try to keep an :"open mind" when it comes to "what is tribal and what is not" discussions -- and th e only time I ever really have an opinion on the whole thing, is when people start debating what is ATS and what is not. Otherwise, I say dance on, do your thing, and enjoy :)

Re: Cool Tribal Dance Blog
Tue, April 15, 2008 - 10:25 PMI do, too. I liked that she gave some of the history, because there's a lot of it that I'm not familiar with myself.
The reason I thought JJ would find the "Pop & lock is not tribal" comment funny is because she was commenting that there was way too much of it in some of the videos she was looking at one night. :-)
And yes, LJ rules the blogosphere! :-D -
