Regale us upon your return home!

So, any good stories or pics out there? If so, post post post!!!

I just got home last night and I'm missing the climate already! I had a hoot socializing, but I have to admit, the fighting alone was worth the trip! This is (I believe) my 13th Estrella, and I've never been more proud to stand among and against such a good band of hard fighting brothers and sisters. Calontir had the priveledge of fighting on both sides briefly, and we were met always with warm and glad friendship. I spent most of the battle next to my King, acting in what capacity I might as his "stand in" champion. And what fun fighting it was. Nothing like a crown on the chest to create some interesting scenarios!

Outside of fighting, it was great to see some performances by Clan Tynker, Wolgemut, and Owain Pfife. There were some bodacious parties and many new faces. And its always great to catch up with those friends you only get to see this one time per year.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a great time and can post some memories up here. Until then, I'll have to go home and inhale the woodsmoke in my clothes!

LOL! First thing I did was strip off in the garage and throw clothes into the laundry to get RID of the woodsmoke. And out of paranoia that I might have packed up one of those enormous spiders that I found in my tent - the ones big enough to make footstep noises!

I also got home last night after my first Estrella, and I had a great time. Thanks to all the drummers and drum circles and party folks for letting me party-hop - Brian, Kovol(?), Nevik, Pious, Rock, Klaus, Susan, Bill, Marcus, and anyone else I've left off. I played at Darbuka, Ragnar (I think it was Ragnar????), and West's awesome Saturday night party and my shoulders and fingers are STILL sore.

All in all, a very successful first war, except for the fact that I actually forgot which name I meant to register at Herald's Point, and I submitted the wrong one. *Blush* Everyone was gracious and helpful and understanding, and if it wasn't so darn far away and expensive, I'd guarantee return next year.

I drumed at Darbuka too the music was fantastic. I am a little sad though this was my first Estrella in years that I did not jam with Klaus or Rock. I met some new great drummers though, Nevik and Sam. Hats off to old Darbuka friends Silvanes, Sadeek, Donavan and all the rest of the fantastic talent that Darbuka has to offer so many shared techniques and ideas.

The Sea Dog party on Saturday was a brief two hour bash but a hell of a party. Good drummers Elissa and Geatano joined me for some good music while the ex-unity in motion dance troup gave us all a reunion show. Melisa's sword dance was a big hit. The bar they had was the most stocked I have seen at any war. Wow they many headaches it must have caused the next day!

Klaus and Rock were at West's Saturday night EXCELLENT party, and I'm glad to hear that people liked the drumming. They (Klaus and Rock) were easy to follow and a lot of fun to drum with.

I guess I missed most of the festivities at Darbuka - it was pretty quiet when I wandered in, but then some more folk - Nevik, Ocean, and some more - wandered in shortly after I did, and we made some noise late into the night on Friday.

I had a great first War, and it was due to all the great people I camped with in Artemisia's Arn Hold and the people I met at War, who are too many to name (also I'm bad with names and have forgotten most of the names already!)

Estrella was some of the most fun I have had in many years. Getting to drum with Donovan, Elissa, GarrisonSylvanus, Sadiq, Ocean, Donovan, Garrison, Elissa, Spike, Three Trees, Sam, and many other fantastic players was nothing less than a blast!

The site was huge, had a bar on site (played a gig there with Teribus), had huge ditches (I heard someone fell in one), and lots of merchants.

I think I'll ramble on in more detail in a blog. :-)

The West is the oldest kingdom - we can't help having a lot of top brass, they've just accumulated over the years. The good news is that most of them are a lot more "just folks", so please don't let them scare you.

I'm not a loud crowded party type myself, but from where I was at the back end of camp, the drumming was GOOD. And I'm not into ME drumming much to begin with. There was also some rather interesting drumming going on somewhere in the back of the Outlands on Saturday - I was down that way.

It was a long damn drive. To be regaled, click here: tousando.proboards18.com/index.cgi

Twas I-I approached you and knew the face was familiar from Tribe. Well met. : )

I dont even know where to begin!
Kingdom of the West-wow! That was one helluva party! Thanks for hosting it.

Ban'dal-As always, soooo good to jam with ya'll, true improv style!

Lady Iona-I think I covered more ground searching for you at night that I surely have thighs of steel by now. Thank you for hosting a FAB and beyond fun Mimosa Thursday!

Eleesa & Diana and I cant recall the other girls' names-thank you so much for letting us crash into your tribal circle. You cold served us up! We were lost but it was still so fun!

Clan Nightwolf-thanks for rallying and getting up to entertain and opening up the bar. And mucho thanks to that bard who had me nearly peeing my pants!

Thanks to Gavin, Aronryck (sp?) and Donnegal for keeping my laughing my arse off the night Lady Iona went missing from the bucket party.

Thanks to tube top girl for your "entertaining" dance but no thanks to the naked butt girls getting spanked-ewww.

And gracious thanks for the kind words, the advice and the encouragement-you know who you all of you are and you know the reasons why I say this. The matter is being handled as it has gone on far too long and continues for no good reason.

Thanks for all the dates for the Bawdy Bardic, aka "Medeival Movie Night".

Wolgemut-Always so happy to hear your tunes, you are superb!

Cobra Commander, Shazzy the man with the muddy boots, Bookman the savior with the canopy walls, Ravendragonwing, Sylverstone, Doc, Susan, Araxie', Makara, Aedelfurd, and B. Betty Buxom, Leeasa, and vampiress CJ, Fondee, Talon, -thanks for making it memorable. I am so groggy and beat that I know I will probably forget someone. Oh! Helen who was beyond warm and welcoming when we arrived and I hear got some nice awards-THANK YOU and big thanks to security for keeping us all safe during the microburst and keeping merchants closed during that disastrous situation.

Another great war full of fond memories!

SPecial thanks to Kahlea, Makara and Heidi for making out SUnday night gathering a flat out blast, it was our smallest ever Survivors night (since when is their a Bard Event on Sunday???) but in my opinion the best dancing of the entire war, and by far the biggest laughs, Kahleas impromptu comedy show along with Micheal Kelly's very bawdy Bard performance had us all rolling in the dirt!!
I al looking forward to hanging with my siters at Highlands. Hopefully we wont be stuck on the edge of the Universe again!

    Best. War. Ever.

Ok, it as my second war but it was perhaps the best experience I have ever had.
Thanks to Clan Night Wolf for throwing one kick ass party! I will be sure to remember my cup next time...

Also, the Masq. party on the Artemsian side (Thursday night, I think.) was great! Many thanks to the raunchy bard. I'd like to thank that specific encampment but I cant remember their name...along with a few other incidents of the evening...watch out for Pirate grog people.

This was my 3rd Estrella War and absolutely glorious in spite of the mud!

Though I have no pictures to post, I do have a wonderful War memory to tell. Friday night I, and two other good friends, had the honor of standing up as bridesmaids and a groomsman in a Viking wedding ceremony and signing the license as witnesses. The bride and groom had met in the pouring rain so they said it was very fitting that their wedding take place while it was pouring out! Thankfully, the site autocrats allowed the wedding to take place in the A & S pavilion instead of outdoors at their camp. It was literally pouring outside during the ceremony but the joy of that wedding lit up the entire pavilion. I even brought home some wedding flowers!

Ah, the pungent aroma of wood smoke -- I took my wool cloak (and a couple other items) to the dry cleaners yesterday and they actually COMPLAINED about the amount of smoke smell in my clothes! DUH!! I was around a campfire for a whole week! I wonder if they're going to charge me more money to get that smoke smell out?? LOL

Unfortunately I did miss visiting with some people I had promised to link up with because it was so difficult to navigate the mud. To everyone I promised to visit, I do apologize.

To TMF may I offer my most heartfelt gratitude for sharing your land allotment with us. You were delightful "neighbors"; to the glorious musicians who surrounded our encampment -- you warmed my heart and gladdened my soul with your music; and a very special thank you to whoever played the bagpipes so stupendously.

    Coffee awaits...love to all!
