Hi!
I was recently researching old bellydancing videos and remembered this:
www.youtube.com/watch
I find a lot of the topics we shared in NYC can be seen in this. It reinforces the belief that the East we know in the West is potentially built by the west itself ,with all the clichés...I love the clse ups on the men's look, reacting to the "dance".
I thought i'd share and see if poeple felt like commenting.
Cheers.
Mat.

Re: "Harem Dance"
Tue, July 7, 2009 - 3:03 PMYikes, you weren't kidding. It is hilarious on one level, to see the ridiculousness of her movements and the men's salacious looks, but on another level it is kind of sad to see that this does indeed perpetuate the Western stereotypes of the East.

Thu, July 9, 2009 - 11:34 PMright on the money... i found my "cringe" factor at a rating of about 9 out of 10 with this one.... what was interesting was also the other videos listed with current "ideas" of the seven veils dance.
thanks for sharing this one.
