Hi all,
I'm looking for a nice hamza ( hand of fatima)
for everyday wear and there's a plethora of cheapo ones out there
on beading websites , but nothing that really catches my eye..as a henna
artist and a tribal dancer I'd like to find one that is of good quality (not cheapo
metal plating) old or new, anywhere from 20-40 bux would be ok to spend
if it's exceptionally awesome...
anyone have any good sites I should check out?
many thanks
Maria

Re: where to find a really nice hamza??
Sat, September 5, 2009 - 3:46 PMHave you tried A C Moore or Michaels???? They have a beading section carrying Blue Moon beads. Look for the Global Nomad section. I found one there I liked and got it on sale for $3 not silver but very nice looking. And I'm all for saving some money when I can. <smile!> I hope this helps you.
safe journeys

Sat, September 5, 2009 - 7:00 PMYou might try Artemis Imports www.artemisimports.com/
Its a confusing site, but I've bought from them at festivals. They are reasonably priced and have silver hamsas. Look under "Hand of Fatima" in the left column. I think you'll have to ask them what they have in stock tho.
Otherwise, ebay or even Amazon sells them. Depends on what sort of style you're looking for though, I suppose.

Re: where to find a really nice hamza??
Thu, October 1, 2009 - 3:10 PMYou can also try looking in Judaica stores (online or brick and mortar). You'll probably find smaller ones in sterling silver or gold if you search under Judaica jewelry. Try searching with alternate spelling "hamsa" too. I live in LA and I have seen large ones (about the size of my hand) of flat engarved metal sold as wall plaques in Moroccan furniture stores. They'd make for a very dramatic statment piece of jewelry ! If you look up moroccan furniture or decor online, some of the sites carry a small selection of jewelry and accessories. You may have luck there, too. I'll chack my favorites and see if I still have any of those sites bookmarked... if I do I try to post some links later.
good luck !

I am off to Morocco on a buying trip in 3 weeks, I can pick one up for you if that is helpful.
Please feel free to send me details of size etc if you would like me to find a good piece for you.
