Long Time No Talk

Between Yahoo Groups, Myspace, youtube and all the other friggin' online groups, I've been so busy ... and I only just realized that I've been neglecting our tribe page! I posted a few new pics today from our Ren Fair! (It was soooooooo much fun.) I am also trying to get the choreograohy typed out from my last workshop - I apologize that I haven't typed or sent it yet - I've been swamped with work. I will get it to you all as soon as I can. Meanwhile you can check out the video of Chelsea on youtube.com to see the Temperature choreography. Also Ethnophonica.com is down right now. I just moved, and I don't currently have a computer capable of accessing the Sitebuilder website program. So onstead of paying for a site I can't currently maintain, I temporarily shut the website down until I can get more memory, access the web page program again and revise the site. It will be back soon, better than ever.

Drum, Dance and Didgeridoo Festival
Saturday July 29th, noon - 10:00pm
Wingfield Park Complex, Reno, Nevada.
Located at the corner of 1st and Arlington Streets. This is a FREE family friendly event for all ages!

Drum, Dance and Didgeridoo Festival (DDDF) is a free, multi-cultural, family event. Eight local Truckee Meadows groups are collaborating to put on a day of world music, ethnic dance and good vibrations. New additions this year include Art Cars of the Playa, the Giant Mantis, Mini Man and Poi Dancers and expansion into three downtown parks.

The festival will kick off at noon with free play shops demonstrating West African Drum, Percussion Games, Poi Spin Dance, Afro-Brazilian Dance, World Fusion Bellydance and Australian Didgeridoo. A hands on Art Booth will be open for people to create masks, music makers and props for the late afternoon parade. The DDDF organizers want attendees to dress in festival attire, participate in drum circles, parade, fashion shows and play shops.

Take a journey around the globe and join in the healing spirit. Experience the primal music and dances that ancient cultures have inspired.

Food and eclectic vendors selling drums, ethnic dance apparel, didgeridoo and other worldly items will be present.

DDDF is sponsored, in part by the Reno Arts & Culture Commission, Reno's Park, Recreation and Community Service, the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

WOW!!!!!!!!!! We did it! I am so proud of our dancers and the fantastic job you Ethnophonica hotties did at Tribal Fest! I will post the video of our performance on www.ethnophonica.com. I swear, you rocked the house with your sexy Brazilian carnival/ Amazon warrior vibe. LMAO! And Chelsea .... oh my goodness, she is the funkiest little white girl EVER! She took my choreography to a whole new level with her unbelievable stage presence. I'm so excited that she's be joining the troupe full time - hey, she's almost as tall as NIna now!!!! Heehee. I'm really jazzed about starting our new Latin number as well. It's gonna be hot, hot, hot!

TRIBAL FEST HAPPENINGS

There is a Romani Festival happening the same week-end as Tribal Fest. And it is not far away from the Fest.

The people who put it on are very good friends of Kajira and mine. They are extending their event to Saturday night from 9pm to 12pm!!

There will be live music and dancing and all kinds of cool stuff.

hey check this out!!!! a chance for our plus size dancers to shine!!!

In order for this project to really go through, we do need lots of feedback from the community, but seeing all of these posts within the past few days, I'd say it's pretty positive so far. All we need from you is a perfomance DVD of yourself no more than 5 minutes. We also need your contact information or any kind of business cards you may have. You do not need to send a portfolio or resume. The address is:

It is with great pleasure that Magnus and myself, Rahja, will be hosting a small Birthday party for Zavisha (mom) at our home in accordance with this years final Hooka, Harem, Hafla party of 2005. Bring your Hooka's, your drums, your fighting gear (for those of you who want to fight and scare the neighbors), your meat to bbq (the kind you eat) and something to share. Tribal Fusion Classes with Naimah?

I was recently on the Ethnophonica webpage and under classes it stated that it was "troupe by audition only". Will Naimah be teaching any classes that are not for troupe performances? I love watching her troupe perform and I love the tribal fusion that she has developed! Great energy involved and it looks like lots of fun! Any possible workshops coming up?

Did you see the updates on www.ethnophonica.com? It's finally startiong to come along! I want to post dancer bios for everyone, (to kick start your individual fan clubs - lol!) So start writing your bio and send me your favorite picture!

I am soooooooooooo excited about our choreograhy and the costume changes. I think by next year we will have a really kick ass show with our African dance and the new hip hop/jazz fusion choreography.

hey ladies i just thought i would let you all know that i can now give you yarn extensions they look like dread locks cause of the yarn but they are braided... mine lasted a full week and were still going strong!!! if anyone would like this done let me know and we can either work out a trade or some sort of payment. also if you have thin baby fine hair this isnt for you... might damage your hair big time!! but i can also make hair falls!!! *kisses*
