For those of you that read my advertising brainstorm post, I was curious about different ways to bring attention to my site. I took almost all the advice that was given to me and I'm finding myself so consumed with the marketing aspect I have little room left to do what I love the most which is make jewelry. So I'm just curious on how everyone goes about structuring their time. Between putting 2-3 posts up a day (which by the way I can't do, due to the nature of my work) blogging and having a flickr account how do you manage your time??????

Re: feeling a little overwhelmed
Mon, February 11, 2008 - 4:53 PMI keep my shop mainly as a hobby, so I give it the free time I have, but I don't lose sleep over it.
I only post 10 listings at month (tops). If I sell, it's fine. If not, it's fine too, because I do it as a hobby. Besides, my articles are not "everyday use" for most of the people. Check my shop to see what I mean:

They say it takes the right person at the right time to make a sale. The best advice I have been given is promote, promote and then keep promoting.
Other than that, internet shopping offer is SO big, we can only keep trying.

Re: feeling a little overwhelmed
Mon, February 11, 2008 - 8:06 PMI know how you feel, I've been there...and it's a frustrating hair pulling feeling :D It normally happens right when your starting out, and getting everything set up.
Normally I make 1 item per night sometimes 2, I take the photos of them and write up the listing, theres an easy way to save a listing for later, convo me on Etsy if you'd like to know it. After I get off of work I come home, post the new item. I spread out my listings (2-3) to one ever hour ie: post new item at 4pm, renew an item at 5pm, renew another item at 6pm. I spend or try to spend about 30min on marketing, normally between the listing times. Then make dinner, tend to family, then at 9pm I make another item. *phew* I'm tired just reading that!!
It does get easier, you'll find what works for you and soon it will start to flow. I don't know if this was much help to you, it's just the way I do it.

Re: feeling a little overwhelmed
Thu, February 14, 2008 - 4:57 PMI second that notion... in more ways than one. I've got two kids and a full time job... and I expect to do what now? Start a business? I must be crazy! I'm a very motivated person, but being spread so thin... I have to settle with slow progress, patience and the low road so-to-speak.
Hang in there! At least you don't have the hurdle of discovering that it's your product that needs help.... your jewelry is absolutely enchanting and you have plenty to choose from.
