okay everybody. We have all of our beautiful, maliciously handcrafted goods that we've poured all of our blood, sweat, heart and soul into... We have our own online retail stores where the whole world can buy!!
So now the question remains....how do we draw more awareness to our sites??? Advertising and marketing....Lets hear it....

    Hi there,
I have a few tips on free promotion on my blog site. I will be adding more in the coming weeks and also hope to have a section on marketing, wholesale and customer care, so keep checking back.

It is purely a promotional blog for artisans to raise their profile so if you ever feel you would like to write a feature about something that is dear to you or another artisan you'd like to give a boost to please do contact me... oh and if you are think "Why would I spend my precious time promoting others" well it's because each time you submit an article your name will appear at the bottom linked to your shop and also if you become a regular contributor you will get a permanent link put in the sponsors bar on the side. Add to that the goodwill factor you will generate... what comes around goes around.

Oh how I love this.... www.etsy.com/view_listing.php

    Do you do trades? hehe...

No , really, I see what you mean. You have awesome jewelry, it just needs to be seen.

I think you have the right idea with tribe. Check out my blog. I just added my banner and link to my etsy store. You might want to do the same. Truthfully, I had to look for the link to your store and didn't see it right away. The banner would help grab people's attention I think.

I haven't sold a ton...but I've been on Etsy since September and I've had 36 sales not including commissions. What's helped me alot is having a flikr account...once I created that, I joined groups on flikr. It helps getting your items seen. I've got a page on TalentDataBase...and after only a week of creating my page there I was a featured artist. Also another that has been beneficial is my blog...open one whether it's on blogspot or typepad. Blogspot is really easy to use too. Once you've started your blog I would recommend posting something in the Etsy forums "here's my blog show me yours" for an example. That way other people will not only view it, but can link to it too.

Ooo and another would be to join an Etsy street team...find one that suits you...make sure you can meet their requirements (sometimes it's just posting in their forum threads, or participating in their sales etc).

It can be hard to sell jewelry on Etsy because there are so many of us there. You really need to stay on top of your shop..pictures are crisp and clean...post I would say at least 2 items a day..I normally do between 2 or 4 items...and 2 of them may be new and the other 2 are renewals.

Like I said, I'm in no way a pro...but maybe some of these tips will help. Your jewelry is beautiful...the sales will come :D

    Summer,

I do have some experience on this from my time in the hospitality industry and in my work in promoting undergraduate admissions.

Look into promoting yourself within your own community... in the form of tax deductable silent auctions. Sign up for your town web board, contact some local charities that you'd like to work with and tell them that you are interested in donating some of your pieces for any silent auctions they may have coming up. Now this is benefical for a multitude of reasons, A) You get your name out there, B) the Tax write off, C) You never know who will see your work and want to see more. Make sure that the display as your web address clearly listed, business cards are good to include when you drop off your items.

When I was flipping through the Winter 2007 Faerie Magazine I came across a "Win This Stuff!!!" page I know the idea is to sell your items for a profit, but this again can count as a marketing expense.

You can offer discounts to all that see the add and one person walks away with an item for free. Cheap advertising for the punch.

Also make sure you tell any local community web lists that you are starting your own business, here is the link, la da da.

If you know any performers you can let them wear some of your art in exchange for getting a nod in the programing. (ie: Jewlery worn by the troop is on loan from the goddedssadornments.etsy.com collection of Summer Raven) Ask that inexchange for the loaned items that any marketing they do for their show you are mentioned and allow the troop a chance to purchase your wares at a discounted "professional courtesy" rate not available to the general public. Even if its 5, 10% discount off, they may fall in love with an item and want to keep it.

Just a few thoughts off the top of my head.
