This has always been my response when people complain on the Etsy fora about a lack of sales. I'm constantly working to think up new ways to promote, I love to diversify. A few weeks ago I took the plunge and purchased a vinyl cutter so that I could offer decals of some of my lineart at shows. It turned into a great device for advertising as well. I set the machine up this week, and made two new decals, one for my studio, and one for my new shop that will focus around "not artwork". I took the car out for the first time yesterday, drove around town doing errands and going out with my hubby. Overall I spent about three hours on the road. When I got home, I had two E-mails from people who had seen my info on my car! It was a better response than I could have hoped for.
Along with the decals I design for my shop, I'm offering to make custom decals featuring other shop owner's web addresses at a low price. I'll take all different kinds of custom orders, so please let me know if you have something you'd like done.
My new shop is : stickerella.etsy.com
Thanks!

Re: Promote yourself!
Mon, April 7, 2008 - 8:56 AMWow! Sounds like good stuff!
I agree. We've got to promote, otherwise we're just needles in a giant haystack. Kind of like the whole world outside etsy, LOL! -

Tue, April 8, 2008 - 8:46 AMI like that idea. I have postcards made from my art with my info on them that I try to leave in places where people will pick 'em up.
Also, I've found that connecting your etsy store with a MySpace account, tribe, flickr, etc. is helpful as well so people can check out your more extensive profiles and images on these sites.

Mon, April 14, 2008 - 8:59 AMMyspace was the best thing that ever happened to my first shop. It's still where most of my sales come from. I even wrote a big tutorial on how to use it to promote your Etsy business.
