Mama Gena....

Hia Ladies... a little OT from feminism and the Middle East... ok, way OT, but still dealing with women and every day stuff.

A woman at work has mentioned this book to me and I've been doing a little research on it (Mama Gena's School of Womanly Arts), and I bring this up here for two reasons. One it has to do with the every day women, and two it seems to parallel the dancer philosophy.

Thusly my thoughts: it seems like most of the women I know, already acccept most of her principles, we are beautiful, we are powerful, and we enjoy doing what WE want (for the most part, life isn't perfect we all know this) her principles seem very phsyical bases, which is OK but I don't think it is the be all and end all of happiness. Most of the women I read on tribe celebrate the goddess within.. in some form or another. (I personally could care less what it's called, I think its just another way to describe self confidence and the natural power inherient in a women who chose to accept it)

That being, anyone had any thoughts on it? Read it, know anyone who did? I'm a little curious to read it but I am not sure I want to waste my new instructional DVD money on it if it's nothing but what most dancers inspire us to be anyway!

I'm thinking I might add it to the reading list... I'm going to try the library first (ha ha ha) just to see. Then I'll order it. My interest is piqued for sure.
