hi, i am about to begin a new choreography for a cane dance. i like it to be lively and upbeat and not too long, (although i can cut the track if needed!) i need some inspiration for some music please! to give you an idea, i did a great choreo to Bel Arabi by Saad on BDSS vol IV, and i need to find something which makes me want to bounce and shimmy! any ideas??

Re: suggestions for a cane routine (music inspiration!)
Thu, September 24, 2009 - 3:52 PMi found it when i was looking at this article from Shemsdance. www.shemsdance.com/about/ar...ance.html
she was a pannelist at a workshop i went to and i felt like i'd met a celebrity! i love her article in the gilded serpent about bellydance as a language. www.gildedserpent.com/art41/s...uage.htm
i'm sorry if i implied it was mine, i certainly haven't done that much research to be able to sort thru youtube for good vids be be sure of what im looking at. i haven't even watched all of Shems' lists yet! ^_^

Re: suggestions for a cane routine (music inspiration!)
Fri, September 25, 2009 - 12:22 PMHabeb by Galactic caravan has a saiidi beat but is more pop music then many assaya type songs you will find.
Sahret Omrena (from the Soul Cairo) is also pop-saiidi
If you want more classic
Mizmar Baladna (Sould of Cairo) somewhere in the middle of Old school and pop (more old school, heavy and earthy)
Saidi Medly from Dancing with Genies is great and old school sounding without being too 1940's movie like
