Re: Hey all you groovy and organic women
Sun, June 28, 2009 - 6:32 AMI've never tried straight baking soda, but I heard a while back that Arm and Hammer does animal testing and sometimes it's hard to find other brands.
I friend of mind suggested a Source Vital deodorant (It's called Deozein) for my boyfriend, who is *very* sensitive to chemicals. It seems a little pricey at first, but it will last forever. He loves it so much he practically bathes in it (you can use it for feet, hair, or whatever. it smells really good, but not strong) and it's already lasting a long time. They use all organic ingredients. Here's the website: www.sourcevital.com/products...care.html

Re: Hey all you groovy and organic women
Sun, June 28, 2009 - 8:18 PMA friend of mine has started getting serious about making natural body products and she managed to create a baking soda-based deodorant that is really great. Sadly it's not for sale (yet!) but she said that she had to be careful not to use too much baking soda or else it gave her a rash, and she doesn't have especially sensitive skin. So I guess it's all in the mixture.... hum.

Re: Hey all you groovy and organic women
Mon, June 29, 2009 - 6:42 AMRemember to give your body some time to adjust to the change irena. It may seem as though it's not working right away. Your body will have to adjust to being taken off chemicals, and adjustment to your own body oils and perspiration rate.
I've been using a baking soda, cornstarch mix with some oils for awhile and love it......now. In the beginning it was a HUGE adjustment. I don't know if you have made the switch to using natural products on your hair, if you have you will know what I'm talking about. -

Re: Hey all you groovy and organic women
Mon, June 29, 2009 - 3:20 PMI used about 2 parts cornstarch to 1 part baking soda for years. It worked just fine.
BTW, there was discussion about this recently in the Hair and Makeup tribe: dancemakeup.tribe.net/thread/...20bbf0d0 -
